Enough already. There is nothing interesting left to say on this subject. My husband and I have an amazing relationship and most of our family and friends have accepted our decision to not have kids. At the same time, I think its highly commendable that others choose that path. Its all about tolerance – I accept other peoples’ choice to have children and more often than not people accept our outlook on kids. And believe it or not, it is possible to have a social network with other child-less adult couples.
Well then, I am really glad I didn’t pursue art as a career profession. What you describe sounds like a total drag.
That every time an article is posted about the latest outrageous celebrity behavior, that article will have the highest number of letters posted. Compare that to articles that discuss the latest GW disaster or more specifically, the Walter Reed scandal that depressingly neglected US troops (6 letters as of this post compared to Britney’s 84).
And the irony is that at least half of the letters are from people bitching about how Salon should do better, how they swear that they absolutely don’t care, and how dare Salon post such trite nonsense. Sure, whatever…you are all so transparent. Get over yourselves. Admit that you are tired and that you need a diversion. That’s why you read the article in the first place.

Cary, of all the letters you receive, you chose to respond to this one? This topic has been discussed ad nauseam by everyone everywhere. Simply put, most people will date at least one person they work with in their lifetime for obvious reasons. The proximity and amount of time spent with colleagues allows for a natural progression of relationships. The success or failure of work place relationships is dependant on subtlety and professionalism. Asking whether or not it is appropriate has become irrelevant unless of course you are the 65 year old married male leach CEO dating your 20 something secretary. That’s just tacky.
