not going to extrapolate from the personal

but I will chime in. My husband wants more kids than I do. I'm in my 8th month on the first and really would prefer to only have one. He wants a minimum of two. I'm willing to consider it, but only after seeing how the first one comes along. Not having kids was a deal breaker for my husband, I could have gone either way. I would love it if men could do the heavy lifting of procreation. I would totally sign up for another kid if my husband did the 9 months of pregnancy. I haven't sleep well in 3 months, haven't seen parts of my anatomy in about 2, can't move faster than a quick waddle, have had 3 leg cramps already today, and have had my insides pounded by my beloved Mexican Jumping Bean all day today.

the idaho law covers all prescriptions

Not just contraception. I know a lot of commenters will say that contraception is a "life-style" drug and is not a life saving drug. The Idaho law covers all drugs, so just think about that before you start defending pharmacists who fail in their duty to provide care to their clients. Yes, as state licensed pharmacists, they have a duty to provide care. If the law was written so that an immediate alternative method of care is to be provided without issue, I would find the law permissable. However it does not. The Idaho law states that pharmacists cannot discriminate based on race, religion or gender or national origin, but it allows them to refuse to dispense any type of medicine (including life saving drugs). It also provides IMMUNITY from civil, criminal and administrative liability. So now a pharmacy owner can't even fire employees that won't do their job. It's easy for commenters to shrug off the pill, but what about anti-virals for HIV positive customers? Or cancer drugs for an ex-smoker? Where does it stop? When someone is dead? Well, too bad in Idaho, because you can't do anything about it.

Original article: D.C. tea party broken up

Tea Bags

From the Washington Post article "Protesters, using a rented truck to haul the million tea bags, began unloading their cargo at the park this morning but were told by officials that they didn't have proper permits and must move the tea . They complied with the order but are still considering what to do with the load."

Maybe they could donate the tea to homeless shelters and food banks so that the unemployed could at least have something tasty to drink?

lack of support

I'm on maternity leave right now. I'll be out a total of 8 weeks. 6 of those are considered disability leave because I'm still recovering from giving birth...the other two weeks would be unpaid except that I am using my EARNED vacation time so that I can get a paycheck. Yes, some of my coworkers are picking up my slack. Same as I do for them when they go on vacation, or catch the flu or call in sick after a late night out. I don't feel bad about taking this leave...I've busted ass for my company prior to my pregnancy and will be busting ass for them when I come back. I asked for an option of reduced pay and time so that I could help care for my child. But my corporate overlords don't offer that as an option. Yes, one size fits all is stupid. I'm a top employee in a tech job that can easily be done at home and with a lot of work done outside of 8 - 5 M/F. I'm also incredibly efficient and can finish projects faster then several of my coworkers, but the corporate HR policies take none of that into consideration. So my boss and I have to work something out "under the table" so that he can keep me and so that I can stay.

resignation reasons

A politician may say that they are leaving office(or not seeking office) to "spend more time with their family" but in reality that either means there is a scandal coming or political maneuvering going on. It never means that they are going to stay home and play patty-cake with the kids and take long walks on the beach with their spouse. No difference here with Palin.

yes some people do read in bars

My friend does this pretty regularly. This is usual a quiet bar/restaurant in the early evening after work, not a nightclub at 11pm on a Saturday night. She is in a longterm committed relationship (but not married) and sometimes wears a ring that she inherited as a fake wedding ring. It seems to work better that just saying she is in a relationship. For some reason these persistent guys believe the ring more than her saying a million times that she has a boyfriend of over 10 years that she lives with and loves dearly.

Sorry no

We don't allow paying people for organ donation and this is no different. Then again, I think that Kissling has stated before that she is in favor of compensation for organ donation.

Anyway aren't there enough leftover eggs from IVF that could be donated to research? My understanding was that Bush outlawed gov't funded research to use donated eggs, but that Obama rescinded that order. Plus, I don't believe that when states are cutting services and payroll because of the Great Recession that spending $10K per "donation" of an egg is a good use of state funds.

different methods of retrieval, that's why

If egg donation was as easy as handing over a used tampon, then I wouldn't be opposed to it. Nor would NY state be offering $10K for it. Typically egg retrieval requires the injection of hormones that that multiple eggs are produced each month instead of only one. Getting the eggs out occurs either under mild sedation or full anesthesia. That is significantly more risky than sperm donation (or even blood donation). The level of hormones used to increase egg count may not be safe.

I'm pretty sure that it has been proven that male masturbation is safe and indeed confers several health benefits.
