Original article: Sperm control

Just read about this

In Mental Floss. They had a really good article about the various methods hormonal(progestrone/testostrone) and non-hormonal (protein inhibitors), but that article estimated that it would take until 2010 for any of the methods to come to the market.

The huge advantage I see is for couples in a stable relationship/marriage. It's commonly known now that female hormonal birth control methods cause a loss in sexual desire in many women or has terrible side effects in some. For those couples, a reversible form of male birth control could be a marriage saver.

As for non-monogamous or non-committed partners, an additional form of barrier BC should still need to be used for STD prevention. I still can't get my head around any guy that will refuse to wear a condom with a partner that doesn't have clear test results. Is that really great orgasm worth at best a few weeks course of anti-biotics or at worst a life time of anti-viral meds? Obviously these guys are completely selfish and not thinking that putting their partner at risk for CERVICAL CANCER trumps their need for a better than average orgasm. And any woman who buys into that line of BS needs to have her head examined (along with some other parts)!

Original article: The Fix

Borat

The Borat victim did try to verify that he was legit:

"Because his handlers told me he was Borat Sagdiyev, "a TV journalist from Kazakhstan," I booked him for a live studio interview on our morning news show in Jackson, Miss., thinking he was a legitimate reporter doing a documentary to be shown in his home country. I checked out his public-relations company's Web site and even met one of the publicists in person. They seemed genuine. "

Blaming the victim

Yep, seeing a lot of that going on here. The tv booker did her research, the Borat's producers set up a fake website to fool her and his "publicists" lied to her face about Borat being a tv journalist from Kazakhstan. Typically when people do that for monetary gain, we call it fraud and it's a crime. Everyone makes honest mistakes at the office, mostly they don't end up getting fired and then having to see their humiliation on the big screen and the perpetrator of it raking in the accolades and big bucks.

VA Political Ads

Yes, they are truly scraping the bottom of the barrel in this race. The ads attacking Jim Webb for his FICTION writing are disgraceful, if I have to hear how "deviant" his books are one more time I'm going to smash the television. But I do want to remind Broadsheet that NoVa isn't the only blue leaning parts of the state. The breakdown is more city vs rural instead of just NoVa vs the rest of the state. The capitol of the Confederacy (Richmond) goes Democratic, it's major is Doug Wilder who won in a landslide popular election.

Notification Laws

Well I read the actual text of the notification law late last night while watching the election results (yay!). I'm not lawyer, but as far as notification laws go, Prop 85 was halfway decent. Parental consent was not included, only one parent was required to be notified, notification could be waived by the parent if the parent was there with their child, there were court by-passes available, the notification was waived if it was a medical emergency, emanicipated teens were exempted, and the notification didn't seem to cover the morning after pill. There was a coercion clause included but it only covered instances where the teen was being coerced into having an abortion and where they might be coerced into the pregnancy. I still wouldn't have voted for it, but we've seen a lot worse get passed.

Ask Miss Manners about the etiquette of cancelling a wedding

Because you should NOT be getting married! Having only a year of monogamy under your belt is not a good foundation for a lasting committed marriage...and it doesn't sound like you are the type that shares. Please end it now so you don't have to write Cary back about how to deal with your emotional affair with a Japanese grad student, your wife screwing one of her old flames and that you think your first born child might not really be yours!

Original article: Bikini troubles in Dubai

Practical Reasons for a Bikini (completely unrelated to the article!)

"If you don't want to be leered at, don't wear a bikini. Wear a one-piece.

Face it - women wear bikinis so that men will admire their bodies. " -Sandra M

Actually I wear a bikini so I can go to the bathroom without having to take off my entire swim suit. Sandra, I thought you'd know that...but maybe you just pee in the pool!
