To Joe Republican

Nobody is suggesting that we do nothing. But if you don't realize that the folks currently in power are playing games with homeland security for politics, than I have no qualms saying that I think you're a dumb ass. We went from 1993 to 2001 without an attack on our soil. First WTC bombing to the second. Do you think that is because the Clinton administration just got lucky? Was it because the terrorists just didn't want to attack us during that time?

Do you really think our adventure in Iraq has decreased the number of jihadist in the middle east region? Someone once said that when trying to solve a problem, the first answer you come up with is usually, the simplest, easiest, and stupidest. That is where we are, and to change course now would make us look weak. And damnit! Republicans aren't weak!

And finally, why did you end your post by saying that once we're attacked, the liberals will say "WE" didn't do enough. Who is "we?" Are you in the governments anti-terrorism task force? Or did you get your official Homeland Security g-man badge from Tom Ridge? Go to Iraq and become a "we."

Hey Joe

I realize when there is a war on, because I've been to one. A real one. Not a blogging one.

You're right, we were attacked 9 months after Clinton left office- and I'm guessing your point doesn't have anything to do with the era of personal accountability the Republicans like talking about. The WTC was bombed 3 months after Clinton took office, but I don't recall any Republicans putting the blame on Bush Sr. for that. No, that was Clinton's fault too.

You Republicans act like the planning and execution off 911 was something along the lines of how the Japanese attacked Pearly Harbor. In fact, many folks use that exact analaogy often. But there were no massive battle plans. There was no logistical plan on the scale of massive armies, battleships and war planes.

These were 19 idiots with box cutters. Do you think this was some major elaborate plan that they were scheming together throughout the entire Clinton presidency? Do you think there was a massive 12 month plan on acquiring those box cutters? What about booking the plane tickets? That must've been really tricky. I don't think Hirohito himself could've even planned that.

No. They waited until they had a guy in office whose incoming staff claimed the outgoing administration was "fixated on terrorism." They waited for a guy who they witnessed ignore every single piece of evidence that seemed to give away their plot. They waited for a guy who claimed in 1999 he hoped he would get a chance to become a war presudent so he could cash in on the political capital that his father failed to cash in on. They waited for a guy who would respond by doing exactly what they wanted him to.

Wingnuts don't Want to get the Point

As Ann Coulter would say if she was a fair-minded sane person, they're standing behind a issue that they THINK is beyond reproach.

Tim's obvious point is that this most certainly could have been a very dangerous plot. But if you look at the history of the Republicans in power, it is hard ot give the threat or story and credence.

I'm sure all of your mommys or daddys told you the story of the boy who cried wolf. Well, Tim provides you links to just a few of the many times the Republicans have cried wolf...for political gain...to the detriment of real threats.

If you don't see Tim's point, you obviously don't want to see Tim's point. Your blinded either by fear, stubborness, or politics.

Thank Heavens for Joe

"...while the rest of US look for the real threats."

I'm not sure whether you are in FBI, CIA, or from some other law enforcement agency. I thought you were just some guy like me who should be attending to his regular old job (I'm a healthcare administrator) instead of playing around on the internet.

I didn't realize that you and we and us and the rest of the folks in your gang are actually out on the streets looking for real threats to our country. I honestly thank you for your service, and I hope that our leaders aren't sending you on wild goose chases while real threats go unattended. Since you say they are not, and you are obviously very much in the game, I'd like to believe they are not. But one has to admit, some of the things coming out about previous "threats" sure look real politicized (aka bullshit).

How Serious DO you Take Things, Joe?

I hate to be this guy, but I did my stint in the military. Fortunately when I was in a middle east war zone, it was for a cause much more worthy than this (liberating Kuwait). But I couldn't have just said that, right? Because I am not objective and I hate Republicans.

How serious are you, Joe?

Original article: Treason and the Times

The Media Owes us Oversight of our Government

The very first ammendment to the constitution says Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of the press. There is a good reason for this (I'd use the term "obvious" instead of "good" but I realize there are dimwits among us) and we have to really question the desire of a government who wishes to silent the press. They've already eliminated the legislative branch of government. The "free" press is all we have left.

I'll say it time and again, the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. Democrats and all liberals need to continuously ask conservatives why they hate America. Why do they want to stomp on our constitution? "If you want to live in a country that supresses the media and invades your privacy, move to Iran, move to North Korea," we should all be saying! Conservatives are nothing more than a bunch of freedom haters!
