From Jim Neal

I like this from Pam's earlier post.

It's okay if churches want to unite same-sex couples; it's okay if they don't. That's their Constitutional right which I support 100 percent. But when it comes to the Government, I'm not in favor of any laws that discriminate against anyone for any reason.

Obama could certainly follow this. The church is allowed to do what it wants because of the Constitution. The government needs to take the line that no discrimination is allowed because of the constitution. Gay marriage is not a religious debate at all. It is only a civil law debate.

Re: He's still not resigning

Liberals so not want him to resign! We want him in office and would prefer he runs for reelection. The GOP wants him to resign so liberals cannot keep holding him up as actual GOP values!

Re: Flakes on a Plane

Nicely done!

I had a similar experience with dog hair. In addition, my suitcase had come unzipped and had opened up. Unlike the dog hair, my colorful Speedos did manage to stay attached as they were hanging on the side of the suitcase as they circled the luggage carousel in front of hundreds of amused onlookers. I wonder if the spandex reacts differently than the dog hair to whatever mystical forces are causing this.

Sacrifices?

While the city of Atlanta is largely liberal, the rest of the Greater Atlanta Area is largely Republican. Just this week the city commission of Alpharetta, a suburb of Atlanta, voted to allow watering of new "professionally installed landscapes," changing one of the new water restrictions. So while you can plant a new yard, you can't water it unless you paid to have it installed by professionals. So is Atlanta making sacrifices? Hardly. North of the city I see numerous signs proclaiming "Irrigation by Well Water!" I see new yards being installed in front of new houses that are not going to sell anytime soon. Builders destroy our native forest canopy and rip out all the native, drought resistant plants, to install engineered grass and trees that require huge amounts of water. Everybody talks a good game, but the bottom line is everybody in the suburbs is going to water their grass and have their custom landscaping.

This is not the first year the lakes in Atlanta have been low. They have been getting lower every year. Nobody, except the idiot Sonny Perdue and the local GOP politicians, were surprised. The Chairman of the Cobb County Commission, Sam Olens, another GOP idiot, has been proclaiming that overbuilding has nothing to do with our water problems. He is also the guy that makes sure builders are allowed to continue burning landscape waste because it is the cheapest way for it to be disposed of, no matter how many citizens oppose it for health or environmental reasons.

Georgia today is a lot like Florida of the '70's. Builders can do anything they want, and this will probably continue until the land literally cannot support it. When the water dries up, the land is ruined and builders and politicians leave with all the money in their pockets, we the people will be left to try and salvage what we can.

Ironman as well!

Marathon is not the only sport that has happened to. Ironman has gone through the same thing. It used to be a race. Now it is an event to finish. Every Ironman TV show has special interest features about the person who lost a ton of weight, has a life threatening disease, and/or physically handicapped. They rarely show the actual race anymore. Everybody now wants to train a few weekends and then slog through a 16+ hour Ironman, only to leave the sport because they accomplished it while never bothering to actually get good!

But lets be serious, marathon and Ironman quit being sporting events a long time ago. They are now marketing events. What marathon is going on this weekend? The ING marathon! Ironman, while developing its own name - Timex Ironman watches anyone? - also is the Ford Ironman.

Not Dems

These same Senators have shown again and again that they are not really Democrats. The are wolves in sheep's clothing. We need to primary these morons, and boot Reid as well. These elected officials are not beholden to the people who elected them, but to the corporations and Republicans who own them. Just because somebody runs as a Democrat does not mean that they hold the values of the Democratic Party, it just means they decided to put a "D" by their name. We need to quit supporting conservatives in the Democratic Party.

MSM

Why isn't the mainstream media out asking all the GOP candidates to condemn this remark? Oh wait. Different rules for Republicans. My bad.

WTF?

Human rights not more important that national security? Well, Hitler would probably agree with you.

May I suggest a few civics courses for Tim? I like his writing, but he just made a fool of himself.

James Lovelock

James Lovelock, a very well respected scientist, was the subject of a story in Rolling Stone. He feels that 6 billion people may perish by the end of the century. I highly recommend this article to everyone.

One point he makes is that all the computer models for global warming have been wrong. What is happening is much worse than what the models predicted. He blames this because scientists have a tendency to use very conservative assumptions when building models. Right now it seems that all governments are using very conservative data to suggest that this drought will pass. It may not.

Divorce

I am thinking these charges were buried so that they could not be used against him in the divorce with his second wife. All white men fear their wives in a divorce more than they fear the IRS, tree huggers and Hillary Clinton combined.
