From a story I was reading in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, staff writer Steve Murray (stmurray@ajc.com):
Then there was the global warming part of the evening. The Al Gore-centric movie on the subject, "An Inconvenient Truth," won best documentary and original song. Global warming was also a plotline in the best animated feature winner, "Happy Feet."
Actor Leonardo DiCaprio and Gore appeared, not to hand out an award, but to announce that the Oscars have gone environmentally green.
No wonder a lot of the rest of the country thinks Hollywood folks are orbiting a whole different planet.
We still have wingnuts down here in Georgia, and they work for the "so-called liberal media."
Good for Forest Whitaker and Helen Mirran. Well deserved Oscars.
Rulon is living life large! The man is experiencing it. Nobody can say his life is boring. I admire that.
But wouldn't it be great if they made Heather dance to a Beatles' song?
I am assuming he is about to be booted from the Marines? Conservatives didn't want gays in the military. They have one now, and a porn star to boot. Oh wait, is he gay if he was always on top?
How is it that all the male prostitutes end up with such close ties to Republicans? Gannon and the White House, Haggard and the escort, and now this guy at the CPAC. Hmmmm.
How is the Latino community for accepting gay male prostitutes? Will they still welcome him with open arms?
I have a feeling this guy has some serious issues. He is a walking contradiction. He gets to be whoever he wants to be, but he is sure keeping some strange bedfellows. The people he is embracing are the ones that want to hurt everything he is.
When does his unit go to Iraq?
Stop saying he's gay. He said in an interview at Joe My Blog that he is not gay.
There used to be a street hustler who used to pop into a bar I used to work at. One night a guy asked him if he was gay. He answered, "How much money you got?" I believe Dan Savage would say that if a guy is having sex with other guys, for money or for free, he is indeed gay. Be pretty, being effeminate, or dancing well does not necessarily make you gay. Having sex with a person of the same sex does.
One might be able to make a case for hypocrisy if he were currently making porn movies while denouncing porn. But that is not what happened. Matt wanted to move on, and (try to restrain yourselves at this one) lead a more moral life than the one he was leading.
Does leading a more moral life include prostitution? Because he is still advertising his services on the internet. He is not leading a more moral life, he is just selling himself to new groups of people.
I could list hundreds. However, if Little Feat's "Waiting For Columbus," possibly the greatest live album of all time, did not make the list, it is just screwed up beyond repair.
She skewers topics like nobody else.
Excuse my TV law degree, but couldn't Congress ask them to come have a discussion as Bush suggested, and then go back later and issue subpoenas for a more thorough questioning under oath saying that more questions were raised and they have already waived privilege by discussing the same matters previously? Surely that is what Jack McCoy would do!
I am not a great photographer, but am a good one. I have done it on and off most of my life. I do it as a hobby. I enjoy it. I have no desire to try and make a living off it. I just enjoy it.
I love music. I have always loved music. I played some bass in high school, but have never had the discipline to learn to play. At 44 I recently bought a guitar and spend an hour plus a day playing. Robin Trower has nothing to fear, but I enjoy it. Maybe in a year or two I can be in a garage band. Maybe not. I enjoy it however, and am playing along with my music collection and also am trying to learn all the basics.
You just have to go out and do what you want. I race Ironman. I take pictures. I even carry a small camera with me when I cycle in the mountains. I am now playing guitar. In 5 years you will be five years older and will either be playing a musical instrument or not. Either way, you will be five years older. Why not learn something new during that time.
