Bush is killing more men and women every day this ill-advised war continues.
Bush is also killing the GOP every day this ill-advised war continues.
2008 will be a complete bloodbath for the GOP.
Isn't filibuster a continuation of the debate to avoid bringing the resolution up for a vote? How is that blocking the debate?
Did anybody think the GOP was not going to try to do everything they accused the Democratic Party of doing? The GOP is a party of hypocrites and that is what they do!
You must be a world-class idiot. Tony Dungy thinks that traditional family values are positive. Your stance; Shame on him.
Yes, shame on him for supporting a group that supports discrimination. I have no shame taking that stance. And again, these religious groups are the remnants of the groups that fought the Civil Rights Movement and the ERA just as hard as they are fighting Gay rights. I have no shame condemning Dungy for supporting or being involved with them. Fighting against these has nothing whatsoever to do with family values. It has to do with hate and fear.
Newsflash: Some people - many of them of excellent moral character - think that being gay is not right. They are completely allowed to think this.
They can think anything they want. Trying to actively deny rights to these people, like they did to African-Americans and women, is not.
gttim - get you head out of your ass, or your buddy's, or whoever's.
Is this your attempt to illustrate you excellent moral character and family values? Now that seems to be homophobia. I see why you were so quick to launch ad hominem attacks against me. When you send your next donation check to Mr. Dobson, tell him I said hello!
I had the game on in the background as I ironed, if that is okay for a man to do. After the Colts won and Dungy started in on God, I remember thinking what I always think when players and coaches start referencing a higher power- "If there is a God, I think he has more important things to think about than a football game." At least the Colts owner did mention the people in Florida who lost their homes, and offered to partner up to help them- which I think means help without spending a lot of money.
Thanks for the heads up on Dungy and the Focus on the Family groups. I still find it shocking that an African-American can support groups that actively support discrimination. These groups are the remnants of religious groups that actively fought against the civil rights movement and against the Equal Right Amendment. Of course while it is not cool to protest equal treatment for African-Americans and women now, they seem to think it is perfectly alright fight against rights for Gays and Lesbians And Mexicans, as long as you call them "illegal immigrants."
Prince would have been better without the freaky twins. If there had been a wardrobe malfunction and we had seen Princes nipple adorned with jewelry, what do you think the FOF groups would have done?
BTW, the game sucked. Nobody deserved to win.
Call Anderson Cooper a created newscaster when Greta Van Susteren's face is so obviously created. She looks like The Joker in that ad.
"Some of my best friends are black!"
Then I would have believed him.
Feedback does work better now even with more traditional media. I was emailing a writer in a local paper because I felt his stories on a local hot topic were not covering all sides- okay, I accused him of bias and of wanting to work for Fox News one day. He responded and I ended up giving him names of people with a different take on the story. We have since talked on the phone and he turned out to be a very nice guy. I apologized for the Fox News remark, just because that is a really low blow.
I would not mind Salon only allowing premium members to post directly to the letters pages. If a troll or wingnut wants to come here to rant and try to disrupt an nice exchange of thoughts, he/she should have to pay for the privilege. In a less severe move, you could put a button next to the "All Letters" and "Red Star Letters" buttons which reads "Premium and Red Star Letters." Then people could be more selective of the letters they are reading.
I am not a fan of the big three sports- football, baseball and basketball. however, I have come to enjoy your column greatly. I do like to hear your point of view on other sports. I think there is a swim meet coming up soon.....
Have people forgotten that in 1996 Hagel was elected in stunning upsets in both the primary and general election conducted on voting machines programmed, installed and ran by a company that he was the head of and that he continues to own a part interest in?
In 2002 those same machines gave him the largest victory in the history of Nebraska?
Please check out his voting record before any Dem starts thinking that this guy might be a good guy. He is not. He is jumping on this anti-Iraq war wagon for political purposes.
If Pelosi makes Washington insiders gag, I wish she would speak more. Washington insiders are a huge part of the problem. That includes Rahm Emanuel.
