Original article: You have no right to vote

Georgia Voter ID Law

In Georgia, you can register to vote by mail. You need no ID. You only need a copy of a paycheck, bank statement or utility bill, and who can't fake on of those on a copy machine? Nobody checks an ID. HEck, they do not even see you.

Previously to vote by absentee ballot, you need only get a copy of an absentee ballot, fill it out, and mail it in. No ID is needed. Again, nobody even sees you.

The potential for voter fraud is huge! You never even have to see an actual person to register and vote by absentee ballot! How did Georgia change the law with its new voter protection act? Now, anybody can vote by absentee ballot, and you do not need a reason. You do not have to be out of town or having surgery. You can do it because you feel like it. Any group who distributes absentee ballots, like the Christian Coalition, can now attach literature telling you who they think you can vote for. Oh, and dead people can legally vote absentee. Yes, they changed the law making it legal for dead people to vote by absentee ballot.

Why did Georgia, which is run by the GOP, not try and safeguard absentee voting? The vast majority of people voting absentee are Republican. They made it easier to vote and easier to commit voter fraud.

Voting in person, which most Democrats do? They made it harder and put up roadblocks, even though they could not prove that any voter fraud was taking place during "in person" voting.

What else do you need to know?

Old guys....

Dave, remember the old officers and DJs who used to play Dionne Warwick and Glen Campbell? The ones the youth involved in the actual fighting couldn't stand? Babe, that's you now! You might be spinning Jimi Hendrix, but they are going to be wanting the latest rap. It is a different world, and you aren't edgy anymore.

And pussy jokes just are not going to cut it.

No Rage!

There was no rage in Clinton. He calmly went about destroying Wallace and the Fox/GOP talking points. The only times he had to raise his voice a little bit was when Wallace was trying to interrupt him and cut him off, which is the tactic of almost all wingnut pundits, and which Wallace did repeatedly. Clinton was good and thorough. It was nice to see a Democrat with a backbone again. I hope others were taking notes.

Look at the bright side

If this is passed, the next President could detain John McCain for the rest of his life and torture him, and there is nothing McCain could do about it.

I wonder what McCain might think of being detained and tortured, again. Why doesn't somebody ask him? Maybe a reporter?

Sad State of Affairs

Sadly Foley will get more media coverage than the loss of habeas corpus, and I do not believe it is the more important issue. While sexual predators need to be caught and dealt with as the law permits, the loss of habeas corpus has much more far reaching consequences for our entire nation.

(I suppose this is where the wingnuts start flaming me and all liberals for "not wanting to protect the children," which is not what I am saying. But they would say that no matter what I wrote.)

Does the true count matter?

If the Iraqi people think we caused the deaths of over half a million people because of our invasion, that is what they are going to believe.

If they think that our invasion cost them the life of just their niece or brother or cousin, will they hate us any less?

For all of Bush' BS, the Iraqi see things that we do not, and they hate us for what we are doing to their country.

Cary is right.

I would try and get your son into group activitites at either school or nearby. Does he like sports? Sign him for for one or two, like soccer or karate. Does he like music? Get him into a choir. Are there scouting or explorer groups nearby. Check the Y, check county and city groups. There should be something he might be interested in. Get online, or open up the local paper and find something.

Nice.

I'm just saying right now quiet down, sit on the porch, look around you, take it in. Take some photographs of this old town when the light is good, in the early mornings and near dusk. Use a good camera and capture something of it.

When I was reading your answer, and especially this part of it, I felt like I was reading John. D. MacDonald for some reason. Something out of the Travis McGee series. I don't know if you would take that as a complement or not.

For the girl writing the letter, I think she needs to travel. If she feels the need to come back to stay, she can.

Hunting?

Cheney doesn't hunt. He shoots hand raised animals. I can think of a few words Teddy Roosevelt might call Cheney. One begins with a "p" and ends with a "y". There is a "u." There is an "s." There is another "s."

All of us liberals should be sure to write Jack and help keep his spirits up.

Original article: Colmes vs. Fuhrman

LOL!

Fuhrman got owned by Mr. Milquetoast. I guess he didn't want anybody bringing up the fact that he was a racist and certainly one of the reasons why OJ was aquited. Poor baby. I am so glad Hannity was there to stroke him after it was over.
