Great article and I found the opening paragraph to be perfect! It pulled me right in, which is just what it is supposed to do.

I think I am with you- I don't need to experience 6 G's. I don't fly often, but I am more interested in flying to various locals and seeing what life is like there. Where I live I get the fly overs from a close military air force base, a large commercial airport and at least 3 smaller airports. I love to sit outside at night and watch all the planes, often 3 or 4 in the sky at once, fly over at various heights and directions, and wonder where they are going.

Thanks for allowing me to live vicariously through your experience.

Lately I have seen three good ones:

Rush: Opening night so there were a few mistakes, but they put on one good show. They entertain the faithful and can laugh at themselves.

The Woggles: I think it was $10 at a very small venue. After decades they still kick ass. They are there to put on a show and they do it. Opening was a local band Tiger Tiger. The hot lead vocalist is probably the most attacking rhythm guitar player I have ever seen.

Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers: Another band who is there to entertain you. And to drink a lot of tequila. They do both very well. I will say last years show was better, but this one was nothing to sneeze at. Last years show was also in the top 5 shows I have ever seen. It was a sold-out small venue where everybody knew all the words to all the songs, both times.

Sadly I had a friend harass the hell out of me to get me to the Dinosaur Jr. show, and I did not make it. I may have goofed.

And to think Camille Paglia gets a pay check from you and Digby does not. I think that says a whole lot about the direction Salon.com is headed. If you guys were smart, Digby would be getting a pay check from you. You were smart enough to sign Glenn Greenwald. Now be smart enough to sign Digby.

Remember that Libby isn't going to real jail, he is going to country club jail. He'll have a nice room, activities to keep him busy, and decent food. Little Steven is doing more for rock 'n' roll than anybody. I switched to Sirius because his channel is there, after listening to his terrestrial show for 2 hours a week on the internet. The music I hear there is often stuff that never made the radio, which is a shame because it is often fantastic. I recently picked up an out of print CD from 1994- which Little Steven produced, co-wrote many of the songs for, and released on his old label Renegade Nation- by a band Demolition 23. I never knew it existed until hearing a few tracks on the Underground Garage. It is an incredible, hard rocking CD! His new label, Wicked Cool Records, is releasing, and re-releasing, some of the best rock 'n' roll currently available- from The Charms to The Woggles.

My thanks to Little Steven for fighting the good fight, and I hope he continues to get good music out in the public!
