That's right, people who claim there is no difference between Democrats and Republicans are closet Republicans.
What an idiot! There is little difference between DLC Dems and Republicans. What difference would be made by having a Republican in Lieberman's seat? None at all. Biden's? None. Most conservative DLC Dems have done nothing to stop the corporate juggernaut take over out country, and in fact many have encouraged it.
If Gore had ran as the liberal he is rather than listening to beltway consultants, he might have won. Running as GOP Lite did him no good at all.
The GOP has learned to excite your base to get out the vote. They pander to religious nuts, racists, gun nuts, homophobes, and any single issue group they can grab. But Dems can only win if they steer towards the middle and right? That is why we lose.
I think you are th closet Republican.
I can't imagine why a professional soccer player from Europe would not come over to America and be a punter for the NFL, making millions... thousands of dollars a year!
I'm sorry, please name a high paying punter in the NFL. You know, with big bucks and endorsements he might be able to make as a pro soccer player. The only punter I can even name is Ray Guy? Isn't he the guy who was hitting the scoreboard in the Superdome?
I have also noticed that goalies "punting" the ball are going for distance and their hangtime sucks. The kicks have little height. I am sure they can adjust, but doubt they would get of a 75 yard punt with 4.5 seconds of hangtime.
Clinton is not the right candidate for the '08 presidential race.
Well, the GOP seems to think she is the right Democratic candidate for 2008. In 2004 the GOP seemed to think Kerry was the right candidate. Why shouldn't we just do what they tell us again?
When democrats defended Clinton for Bosnia (no American troops killed) or Somalia against the republicans' attacks, it wouldn't have helped the debate a whole lot for republicans to demand that everyone who defended Clinton against them have to enlist in the military and go to the battles.
The GOP and its dogs have spent over a decade calling Clinton a draft dodger, even though he did not dodge the draft- he had school deferments and then put his name in, only to receive a high draft number.
These GOP chickenhawks refused to put on uniforms and fight in a foreign country, but now want to put on uniforms and go strutting around in a foreign country like they have balls, cowering behind hard working soldiers. If they wanted to play Army, they should have when they were going to be the ones doing the work. Clinton never felt the need to play dress up. Bush, and his chickenhawk posse, seems to have a fetish for military uniforms.
Chickenhawks need to be exposed for who they are, people who refised to fight, but willing to send other young men to fight and die, and then cut their benefits. That is all about character. I learned a long time ago when managing people, never ask them to do what you would not.
We now have the 101st Fighting Keyborders and the 82nd Cairborne sitting around calling Democrats unpatriotic for poor mouthing Bush. Meanwhile they say they support the troops, but only as much as they can do with their fingers. They won't support higher pay and more benefits, raising taxes on the rich who are benefitting from this war but not making any sacrifices, and they certainly will not show their patriotism by enlisting as true American men did in previous wars. This is also about character, and those who do not have it need to be paraded around in public and on the internet for all to see.
Clinton used student deferments, and yes he was accepted into ROTC and chose not to join later (not illegal but unethical- but are Republicans even going to be hypocrits about unethical actions? Well, of course!), he was allowed to finish the year of graduate school he was in at the time (Nixon's new rule), and then he put his name in and was given a lottery number of 311.
A draft dodger is one who illegally avoids the draft. Clinton was not a draft dodger.
Now the wingnuts, of which there seem to be many of on Salon letters pages, and I am sure they are all paid commentors by rightwing organizations, have for years called him a draft dodger. Again, untrue. A lie, in fact. Funny, Dick Cheney took a similar route, more deceitful perhaps, and he certainly never put his name in for the lottery as Clinton did, yet no wingnut calls him a draft dodger.
Bill Clinton a Chickenhawk? Nope. He did not start war based on lies, only to send young men to die. (Hurry wingnuts, scream Bosnia! Not a war he started.)
Clinton certainly had/has his problems. A draft dodger and a chickenhawk? No.
And again, Clinton did not parade around in uniform all the time trying to get his rocks off, which is what the Republicans all seem to be doing. Lip service is not supporting the troops. Giving our soldiers the proper equipment, good pay, a well defined and logical battle plan, as well as great benefits when they return home, that is supporting our troops. The GOP is obviously not supporting our troops.
If the Bush twins did serve and one were killed, would the war be 'ok'?
If kids are going to die in a war, why shouldn't it be the kids of the people starting and pursuing it? Would war be okay? I don't know. But it certainly would be easier to have shoved down our throats if the people pushing it had some risk. And we cetainly would not be screaming chickenhawk.
However, your hypothetical is not ever going to happen. Ever.
