That article guaranteed I will never click on McClelland's links again. What an insult and waste of time, and what a gratuitous abusive use of a black female icon's name to get attention to such self-serving antagonistic drivel! "Dragging her flab"?! Have you been feeling up her ample body, pray tell?
Oprah ain't flabby, honey, she's just no marathon-runner or good at any sports. Should we all just kill ourselves so we don't offend your sensibilities if we're not sports jocks or jockettes?
Oprah gets thousands of women who'd die of a stroke or heart attack, off the couch and into gyms and to tracks to run. Good for her! Every little kid who raises money for a school with marathons - smack those little worthless amateurs off the track too? Geez, what vitriol!
I think Mr. McClelland should get his liver checked; it seems very filled with bile. Not hydrating enough?
Outside of media and blog-addicts, I can't find any regular everyday person so invested in this argument, except on Obama's side. People I actually talk to (face to face, nice concept) feel the troops on the ground become the targets after more photo-exposure, not the people who perpetrated all this. Read a blog by the progressive mom of a soldier - remember, soldiers, mostly working-class, almost a quarter million stationed all over the Muslim world? Google Humpin' It With a Bulls-Eye On Your Back.
The case is under investigation, by congress and the Attorney General. There is no quick legal outcome, not even for a traffic stop, much less for a torture case that goes to the top. Screw more pictures, honestly.
Honestly, I think blog and media pundits are not capable of making health care, education and energy reform interesting, so they go for this, over and over again. I can't even watch Olbermann anymore, and this is my final stop here at Salon, I am frakkin' bored w/the read/rhetoric, the utter disdain for the impact on our enlisted folks w/the bulls-eye on their backs, and too busy w/organizing.
Because: our wages are crap, our ability to join unions non-existent, our health care is dismal, our credit is shot to hell, our kids' education is in the toilet, immigrants are being beaten to death and the hate crimes are swept under the rug, and our air, water and food supply is steadily poisoned.
Honestly, I think the pundits have Mobilization Envy. Get over it, and get busy pushing for real change. Donate to the ACLU if this is your only issue. It's a good organization, I back their goals 90% of the time. I wish it was my only issue, or the only issue for everyone I know and meet!
I'm too po'd with lobbyists wrecking our hopes for organizing unions, for cleaning our environment, for getting at least a public option, to be sucked into this as if it weren't already on the long yes tortuous legal road to being addressed. And as if murderers and at the very least trainers and supporters of the torture of millions - like Nixon, Reagan, remember? - actually ever paid their dues like everyday people do.
