  • Cheney's Dementia

[Read the article: An army of one]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Cheney's utterance in Florida about the rationale for Republican control of congress this Novemebr is just another in a series of crazy rants that this demented man has become famous for. Mr "last throes" "we were basically right" etc etc have become comical in their preposterousness. He has become a cartoon character of the "mad uncle upstairs" variety with his persistent rejection of reality.

Sorry Dick, the facts on the ground speak for themselves. Alas, you show yourself to be living a neocon fantasy and the US public is tired of your dance. Now please just go back upstairs and leave us all alone

  • This has been a truly depressing week

[Read the article: The Bush administration vs. the founding American principles]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Where indeed are the Democrats? This ridiculous "compromise" is an abomination to our system of government and our place on the world stage. Even the left blogosphere is curiously quiet today on the subject. The Democrats have fallen into another Rovian trap and now truly can be said not to stand for anything.

I am utterly disgusted at our leaders and a Republic that just doesn't give a crap. We will all suffer through two more years of creeping Christo-fascism at the hands of an unchecked administration.

I am truly sick for our country.

  • The hate is just for Bush but the entire right wing noise machine

[Read the article: Is there life after Bush?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The psychosis that is indeed Bush hatred encompasses more than just the Bush Presidency. It is in large part driven by the experience of millions of gallons of raw sewage poured over your head every day by the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity, Brit Hume, Glenn Reynolds, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Jonah Goldberg, the Washington Times, The Wall Street Journal editorial page, David Brooks, Charles Krauthamer, and Fred Barnes to name but a few of the Right Wing Noise machine (RWNM) foot soldiers.

An honest debate will not be possible until the mouthpieces of the right first own up to the disaster that is George Bush and his policies and second, agree to a few basic facts (eg man-made global warming is real). Until then, the shrieking and caterwalling will continue and the right will be just as fact-challenged as they are now.

The psychosis of the the last 15 years will indeed live on, only in a slightly different form. I don't expect any relief at all from W's unemployment in 2009. I will of course be ecstatic that he is gone but the RWNM will see to it that it is short-lived ecstasy.

  • It's getting awfully dark

[Read the article: "Sopranos" wrap-up: "Is this all there is?"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Christopher's impulsive and reckless killing of JT will have huge implications. The police will be on to him on this one. Also, I think it likely that Adriana's body turns up soon implicating Christopher. He will bargain on the JT hit for turning on the family now that he's asked to take the fall for Adriana which he will not do. Carmella will have to confront the evil that she has been enabling and decide: to take it all down including Tony; or continue to enable and lose her soul (if she really still has one)

Either Pauli kills Christopher or vice-versa. If Christopher turns then it's likely to be Pauli killing him.

Christopher may get taken out by Phil

At the very end the FBI finally decides to make a move only to find Tony dead. The End

    Last man standing-maybe Bobby.

  • On "Turning Tankers"

[Read the article: Republicans play politics with war funding]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The turning tanker to which Fineman referred on Countdown is the MSM finally internalizing the fact that the American people are against this war and want it to end. I don't really know how pivotal the visit to W by the 11 congressmen was. It is sure hard to imagine something like that happening even a year ago. Bush is getting backed into a corner and his support is weakening. Skeptics like Atrios believe the GOP will never really cave but they are masters at flip-flopping then denying that they flip-flopped. Their very electoral survival is at stake and the writing on the wall is horrible for them. This is a GOOPer war and it will hang around their necks for generations.

  • The Roulette Wheel and Tony's Sociopathy

[Read the article: "Sopranos" wrap-up: Uncomfortably numb]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I find the the roulette wheel very symbolic for Tony's eventual fate and of those around him. The accident with Christopher was a random event. The subsequent killing of Christopher was gruesome and horrifying. Those soulless, ruthless eyes as he is killing Christopher show us the pure evil of Tony that often has been softened by circumstance. We can abide that no longer and Chase is forcing we the viewers to confront our voyeuristic fascination with this psychopath. Tony tossing his cookies is we the viewers tossing ours in disgust and shock.

This is becoming a scary psychological ride.

  • Bushco and the Sopranos do have an odd similarity...

[Read the article: Wolfowitz won't resign? Good]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Ya know, Omerta and all, except when you need the witness protection program. And, like the Sopranos, in Bushland you either end up in jail or you're whacked.

I think it's great that Wolfie refuses to resign.

World Bank to Wolfie: "Make our Day"

    And the graet unravelling continues...

  • Right wing noisemakers painted Wilson as a liar

[Read the article: Right-wing noise machine: Plame not covert]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

In part because of his well-founded assertion that she was covert. The only liars in this whole sorry affair were the right wing apologists for Bushco.

Thanks Glenn for reviewing their pompous and false assertions. No apologies or retractions will be forthcoming, however. In the authoritarian world that they inhabit, all that supports the Leader is justified. It does not matter what gets destroyed in the process.

  • Keep asking: "Why does Rove have a security clearance?"

[Read the article: It's finally time for Bush to answer questions about Libby]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It's a perfectly valid and also simple question that the braindead WH press corpse could actually understand. The evidence is quite clear in the grand jury testimony and from the Libby trial that Rove participated in the leak and therefore violated the terms of his security clearance. That, in addition, to the fact that everything he does is for political reasons also leads to the question: "Why is he receiving paychecks from the US taxpayer and not the RNC?"

Very simple questions yet they will never be asked by the WH press corpse. But we, the American people, can and must continue to ask these questions.

Another great article, Joe-still want to see you on the TeeVee.
