The outrage will surely subside when all those nannies, landscapers, house cleaners, etc. bring the flu into the homes of the wealthy.
Or how about the dude who made your lunch, did you meet him personally, check his papers? Careful what you become enraged and indignant about. We are interconnected, and this doesn't stop because of a border.
Go Joe! Great article.
It's Friday... why don't you chill out people? You aren't going to solve anything by your rants in here. Mostly you are preaching to the choir anyway. Get out there and spread your peace, or your piece.
JOE CON rocks though. See, you got everyone all riled up. That's the beginning of real change.
Let's make abortion illegal and force people into dangerous, unsanitary and illegal situations! Because ya'll know that they are going to do what they are going to do when it comes to something like this. No amount of shaming or revealing your ignorance (in this case) will rescue anything or anyone.
How out of touch are these people? Heeeeey, maybe they are the same people who sit in home made sweat lodges for two hours or until they die of stupidity. OR, wait... I know, they are the same people who claim their six year old is lost over CO in a UFO shaped balloon.
This week's news is great for entertainment and this would make a great skit.
Please forgive me Mr. O'Hehir, but I saw the title, broke out in hives and could not read further.
wait, the "stick in your yard" thing is still alive? how about a stick in the eye?
no i am not serious.
but this letter, dear LW, is like ADD and anxiety with a broken heart. you poor thing. find someone to lead you out of the woods. it will be ok.
p.s. i want my caps back.
Cary nails it here:
"You know the drill. It's not about her and her drinking. It's about you and your program."
Enough said. Good luck to you.
Blam! You are a writer!
Now write it out and let it go.
The last of his film's I saw was Breaking the Waves, which is interesting and sticks with you. When Watson returns to the sailors on that ship. The deadened eyes of Udo Kier, oh he can look like a man without a soul!
He has perfect choices for actors, and he makes bold decisions that are seemingly nonchalant, but I am not sure how I feel about this Director.
AO's article here has me intrigued, but only if we are allowed to cover our eyes for that 1%.
I just read his original choice for the main character in Breaking the Waves was Helena Bonham Carter. What a complete change that would have made, without the doe eyed Emily Watson.
So tired, clearly I cannot form sentences or use grammar correctly but still wish to stay up all night watching movies. Thanks for the article.
You are at a dance, where you are supposed to be having fun and maybe... dancing. Your buddy comes into the gym to get you, tugs at your arm. You let go of that honey you've got your arm around, no, you bring her with you outside with you to see someone having sex or something. When you get there, you and your girlfriend see this freshman getting attacked. It's not a porno, it's a not a video game, they are banging her head on the cement and they are raping her, over and over. There are a lot of other people standing around yelling and cheering.
Your choice is to laugh and take pictures, maybe head to a party, or back into the dance.
Prosecution should also be for these vile cowards who lured her and the despicable fools who stood around jeering. It should not take two and a half HOURS for police to be called. Someone could have used their phone to dial 911 instead of recording footage for their pathetic MySpace or facebook. Remove all their freedoms as they removed hers.
As far as the perps go. Lockdown, with bigger gang rapists. Not a fast death, a slow lifelong trickle of misery. They do not represent our teens, they do not represent America's youth, but rather a vile horrific experiment of child rearing gone terribly wrong. A deafening message needs to be sent quickly that vicious behavior will be punished fiercely.
The school and it's officials should be released from their "duties" as well. Close the school that won't pay chaperones past 9PM at a school this size or install proper lighting around the perimeter of the school grounds. Hire administrators who don't say ignorant things on camera like, "we can't drive your kids home", when asked why the school wasn't properly staffed! We know there are a lot of schools lacking funding, so don't give us this bullsh** about lack of funds. Set up a volunteer list or find cheaper chaperones then you morons! Lack of funding doesn't mean that four police and various adults and teenagers can do nothing while a 15 year old is attacked for two and a half HOURS IN A PUBLIC PLACE.
Two and a half hours. I was at John Muir today. She is still there, and she will suffer from this for the rest of her life. Spend two and a half hours doing something that hurts, is humiliating and will destroy your life. Now tell us those rapists and everyone watching should not be wiped off the face of this Earth.
This is so great:
"And this is how you find out the hard truth. The world can get along without you pretty well."
