I left out The Blues, but you can take your pick in that genre. Something tells me you'll be needing to add those yourself soon.
More extremes in The Supreme.
I don't know why ya'll are still in discussion about this letter.
It's all in the soundtrack.
Sounds like someone may need some advice. Wowza!
Hey, aren't you posting in the thread of an advice columnist?
Cary is right, plan your escape. Life is so short and there are so many people in the world.
I am hoping your reference sticks. "Missus ah Whiggins, Coulda you ah come ina here for a mintute please." Tina Fey saunters in chewing gum, filing her nails with the updo and tight skirt. Oh this is good.
Send it to the SNL writers.
Great responses from everyone tonight. Wit and wisdom, fear and farce. I am scared for our country, but the humor takes the edge off.
I agree with Eric Berry, McCain's body language around Obama is calculated. Last debate he didn't even make eye contact with him. Just what America needs, the anti-diplomat, the 'my way or the highway maverick', who has habits closely resembling those of a racist.
Paglia is hot for Palin and unable to draw the distinction between the reality and the fantasy.
To those claiming early victory:
Even though this thread is fun, never underestimate willful ignorance, or plain old-fashioned ignorance. There is a seduction in certain language. Especially when it comes to the apparently outmoded, "I am a Republican for fiscal reasons."
That one has been rendered impotent since Bush took office.
Money money money seems to be the chant. This morning I asked a co-worker who he was voting for and he said, "Whoever gets me the most money".
Bring in "Mr. Tuddball and Missus Whigguns" or "Gramps" this SNL so at least we can have some fun with these guys!
A few questions:
Do you know everything about everyone with whom you have worked? On various committees, school fundraisers, community activities, etc., are you aware of what each member is involved in when not at the meetings? At every party you have attended in your honor or in someone else's honor, do you gather details on everyone's history? How about all your acquaintances? Do you know their story dating back to when you were 8?
If you answer yes to one or all of the above: Are you an international spy, an undercover agent, or are you just paranoid?
The idea of guilty by association is legit (ie: Neil Bush banking scandal, Kenny Lay, or a more recent choice like John Thain), yet in this case aren't the facts being warped into a game of telephone? The gossip is getting tiresome and it's distracting people from each candidate's ideas and platform.
Can't watch The View. Don't have time, and wouldn't bother to make the time. Thanks for taking one for the team Rebecca and doing this research. I can't decide to ask if it was nerve wracking or tedious.
The few times I've heard Hasselbeck (who's claim to fame is Survivor and marriage but not to be confused), I feel sick to my stomach.
Did someone say bang bang sex scene and snatch?
I don't know about UFO's but there are plenty of aliens among us.
As in zombies with cold dead hearts, not illegals. Apathy can be extremely disturbing.
Those "evildoers" got Bush and his panties in a bunch. History is riddled with paranoid and impotent leaders who have nothing but intimidation left. How much does it cost to spy on one innocent American anyway?
Boy would they be bored to record my conversations. Nice to know he's allocated tax dollars so well. So much for those "fiscal Republicans", whatever that means now.
Poor berlet98, he thought this was a ribbing contest and came here to insult strangers.
Nice comment about suicide. Real nice. Get yourself a heart, they come in handy for living. You sound so angry. Hey, I know a great advice columnist you could write!
Steal the election.
It's been done before.
Revolting.
I feel sorry for the next Prez.
Thanks Bush, Rove, Rumsfeld, Cheney, et al. Nice work guys!
Anne Lamott has a gift and I am damn glad she is sharing it! First time I laughed all day with that wolf story too. Thank you for reminding us to breathe and take in what is good instead of buzzing in futile circles.
Scanning the posts in this thread is hilarioius. Indeed we may have a few readers with comprehension issues. Perhaps? You think wolves make bad pets? Really?
timbuktom with the heffalump comment... That's so good.
I don't use spellceherker.
There is a famous pc. which was written from an idealist's perspective, as one who wants to change the world and make everything better. After whittling down lofty ambitions, he comes to the conclusion that he must start with himself, at home. I think Cary's last lines sum that up rather nicely:
"I’m going to try to get a good night’s sleep, be kind to my neighbors, not start any wars, not play with matches and make sure the dogs are fed."
It's no secret some people never get past it, but do they have to pretend they can lead a country?
