Where is Cary and what did you do with the body?
I think Unicorns are kinda cool.
walter_map is doing a great job 'moderating' this site, sort of like the history professors I have in my family. At times I disagree, but to his credit, he doesn't get personal or nasty. We may choose to step out of a debate but when attacked it always dampens the discussion for everyone. If I had time to research all of this, it could be a mini course and the credits are free!
Just don't get rid of your readers who post regularly. I look for a certain few every day and welcome their fresh thoughts. Also, the wonderful Mr. Tennis, evoking everyday at least three of the nine muses!
...because I want to see it. Donnie Darko is on my greatest list, so if it's strange and random, it just might be enjoyable and thought provoking. Or frustrating. Or random, like bunched up dreams you can have while taking a nap.
I never understood why it had to be one or the other, so this article was in step with my own philosophy. Science and faith explore fundamentally different aspects of reality and I found this article fascinating. I am relieved to see Haught mentions Teilhard deChardin and gives him credit for saying these things a long time ago.
I have an image of Terry Gilliam's Brazil, when Katherine Helmond is getting her face stretched out while Jonathan Pryce is trying desperately to talk to her about something important. He can't reach her because she has plastic wrap around her face and is only concerned with her surgeon's ideas for transformation.
When people get too "wrapped up" in the surface of things, they are so dreadfully boring and silly.
Thanks to LG for this research. I've used two of the sites already. The pounds of paper saved just in my home will be a small difference. I'll link friends in now too.
...just seems so pissed off.
I want one of each now. If only I didn't have to pay for silly things like food and shelter. I could fill my home with books as art, a splash of color here on a table and who needs prints and pillows! Fun to see different Salon writers for each book. Do you have this review each year? Hope so.

I'm a murderous sociopath and you're never at the meetings.

SO good! Ahahahhaaaaa!
Thank you. A good laugh is such a gift:
The way you just wrote about this movie based on the trailer, was exactly right SZ. Also, I might add that this is extremely upsetting and not to be confused with entertainment. I was close to tears seeing this small bit. Especially Will with the dog. Maybe I am too sensitive but this was just devastating.
I've said it before, but McCarthy's The Road is evoked in this one. We aren't very far away from this type of "reality". I hope I am terribly off base here, and so very wrong. I hope someone who posts here will tell me how wrong this idea is.
Bad dreams tonight.
the other letters posted and I would like to reiterate what lazynamepicker said:
Not every thought is real.
Thoughts are just thoughts.
Is it possible to fictionalize your story? To "write" it as catharsis in a way, a release? I was just thinking of other stories and people who have done unforgivable things to one another. When it is something we read in a book or see in a movie we have clarity because we are somewhat removed, so this may be beneficial.
Is it feasible to attain a therapist for EMDR or another who specializes in an area that may be useful to you? Can you do this? I ask b/c it is probably expensive, but really, this is worth it. Some may barter or do a sliding scale, but until you search you won't know.
What has happened in your life you soul is experiencing for a reason. It makes no logical sense of any sort, but I believe it is true. You are evolving and you are stuck but someone can help pull you up and out of the muck. It will suck and there is hard work ahead, but you just took a step
...so what's next?
P.S. Cary is back. Good advice.
I'm sorry for your loss. This letter is hard to digest. I don't even know what to say except that cheating has little to do with the one who is being cheated on. Your kids... I hope you have support and many loving friends and family members near enough to be helpful. I barely scanned this because my own little ones are all yelling, but I think Cary said to focus on grieving and later you can process the betrayal. The first part has to come before you can do the second.
My sympathies are with you.
Just chiming in to agree with your point that there are some exceptional actors who happen to be black, and it's unfortunate they show up in narrow unimaginative films with a central focus on color.
Howard is so good. Loved him in Hustle and Flow. And Queen L (aka Dana Owens), she's always fun. Ms. Owens has a great album of jazz standards from '04 in her catalog of recordings. Still, this is a movie that isn't grabbing my attention.
brightstar needs a dominatrix.
Reminds me of art history class, very interesting. So, are we defined by our bodies?
Weisman's World Without Us was great, but I don't rec. reading it just before McCarthy's The Road. By the time I got to the translucent creature drinking at the edge of a contaminated pool, I lost it. Got all emo and couldn't function well that week.
Where is Eat Pray Love? I thought for sure you'd add that to your list.
