Anger, Hatred, Intolerance ………. and fear of everything … Fear that is seated in illiteracy and ignorance … the old curse of which Washington, Jefferson, Adams and Madison were so wont to warn future generations of now prevails upon the land … and is easily seen in the digital diatribes that are easily slapped into a hundred thousand websites!

I had never made a second post to an article before but the extensive response to this quasi-cribbed and loosely edited article on race and politics fascinated me so I read each and every post to get down to here!

There are now over 540 posts and what I drew from the long read was that there is a very small percentage of those who set forth their opinions who actually have thought through what the current condition of our species is ...

I'm a Canadian Senior and a 'Typical White Male' and I'm a Jew married to a wonderful Mennonite woman for four decades now - Believe me I wouldn't lie to you about the matter ... hence by association I'm guilty and polluted by association according to those who are purists about such things - there are such creatures sadly abounding in society.

I've also spent five decades in the media not a short time and as such have tried to maintain the rigorous neutrality of the fourth estate in reportage and most public discourse…. Not a common trait among the current generation of media employees who are deeply beholding to employers and more than a tad fearful of ’Overstepping’ the corporate target ‘ad-gathering’ agenda ….

Let us clarify a few things …

No one ever ’Misspoke’ ‘Misspeaks’ about anything to my knowledge … People speak or have spoken …. You then have to accept the utterance as a ’Done Deal’ … but you do have to acknowledge that the interpretation of any words are subject to the infinite variance in each receptors ability to digest and comprehend what was said … Clinton, Obama & McCain are all trying to win an office … each carries the whole sum of who they are … I as a Canadian have detected no reason to doubt that they each feel qualified … I have however detected some evidence that many who oppose each of them do so in a disingenuous and dishonest manner! Now as to how they are under the microscope of the media and by transfer the public this seems to be where there is a serious disconnect in fact & reasoning ….

Each of the candidates has made serious and atrocious gaffes in the course of their public lives …. As has every person in society … Every public figure in history can be pilloried for what they have said and done on one occasion or another … knowing that let us try to keep a few things in larger perspective …

The assumption of "Guilt By Association" is heinous and is contrary to peace, honesty and human justice … If you don’t believe that then you would have qualified as one of Stalin’s executioners … or one of the Grand Inquisitors!

In Prime Example – Certain American Administrations have been guilty of starting wars causing the deaths and suffering of millions and have deliberately aided and abetted in the assassination of people around the globe ”Therefore all Americans” are by association ’Legitimate targets of Retribution’ … That false reasoning may well ’wash’ [And indeed it does in many third world countries] but we know it to be a hideous and horrible lie as most Americans are decent and caring people who want what each of our species wants security of self and family, shelter, food and hope for better things to come (read a future). But there are – If I can borrow a phrase from the ’Current Occupant’ of the White House certainly ”Evil Doers … in a number of your ’Houses’ … and they unfortunately give shape to the perception that one & all Americans are like them ….

There are nasty, evil and ignorant people out there who would hurt every American …. Fortunately there are also kind and generous loving people who would not … Those are the type much preferred as global neighbours ….

As a non-American neighbour I can do naught but wish each and every American citizen all my best intentions … some of you are victims of illiteracy and lack of larger perspective … while many of you are truly well read and informed and have great hearts, hands and minds that will be the motivators for great good in your country and the rest of the world …

I am a pacifist and a great admirer of Michael Berg the father of the late Nicholas berg who was one of the victims of the horrific hate that still passes as acceptable comportment in much of the world … I pray that sort of evil reality that killed Nicholas will change in time …. His father Michael knows that hatred and vengeance merely make us all beasts and for that he has my deepest respect and sympathies …

One a personal note many of us Canadians would like to see Mr. Obama win as we sense he represents a shift from the sad and weary madness of the past few decades … but should either of the other candidates prevail then we will still hope for a greater awakening among the American citizenry as to what is possible and what should be done …
