We fear for the poorest of Americans should the Republican Ticket win

Ms. Palin supports the moneyed minions (Predominantly Rich ‘White’ Republicans) who machinate behind these latest moves … and who believe and practice methods of governing & business that ensure that the “Market" will still be promoted as a salvation in and of itself … and who also believe (d) that it’s self-regulating capacity was just fine and so they spouted such gibberish until their shareholders were already in the tumbrel ….

Whoever the new American president is … and the McCain/Palin team seems to have the Rove playbook down pat and the media are ineffectual as usual so their chances grow exponentially …. Should McCain/Palin win they will assuredly step into a time warp .... of course that will require that McCain spout a line from March of 1933 …. by about Jan 20th of next year .... “The Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself” ....

I wonder if this group of “I’m not a Bush Republican” corporate front pieces are as capable of scraping together a credible disaster handling "Brains Trust" as FDR did .... and does Senator McCain have a reputable and intelligent economist in the wings .... the disturbing reality is that he has (by current stock taking) only obtained a photogenic VP who is by dint of American subservience to ‘image’ -- given instant ‘credential’ without any time tested evidence of substance (Her public utterances would certainly indicate a second rate intellect) …. But Palin’s brilliantly displayed capacity to insult and mislead under the protective cloak of gender, family and religiosity is not enough for the test …. So we fear for you all.

It is indeed an inadequate facsimile for what will be required should McCain die or be incapacitated in office .... a distinct possibility for a man of years and previous physical wounds and illness ….

History has many lessons ... but that so few have learned them is all too apparent here ... let us pray ....

--- Written in a corner of the north woods of Canada … Where reading the works of Spinoza, Newton, Hume, Locke, Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Mary Wollstonecraft, Henry David Thoreau, Thomas Paine, & John Kenneth Galbraith is still considered an essential grounding in the basics of democracy …. And necessary for sound reasoning and thinking … and an exercise that gives pause and due consideration to avoiding any ‘ill-educated’ reflection on the human condition that is grounded solely in the text subject to examination in the Scopes Monkey Trials of 80 years ago….

Some of us Canadians have a sad and melancholy fear about what may befall the Great Republic to the south of us should the party of the past eight years of grievous national and international mistakes and subservience to greedy corporate narcissism continue to hold sway in the halls of governmentespecially the so aptly named White House”.

There is no ecaping the winter ahead - even in the territories

Thanks for the smile and the droll touches on the madness to replace King George ... and your reflections on the absurd arctic arcadia ... one that as you well know actually stretches south to a Minnesota doorstep for some months weather-wise.

We here in the wilds of Northern Canada are wont to roll over in agony as our current occupant who is but a shallow but ever aspiring twin to the one you have had ensconced in Washington has decided he should roll the electoral dice before the tidal wave of citizen resentment generated by observing American political machinations breaches upon his conservative base. The prospect of waiting until after Americans exercise their rightful resentments was obviously a chiller for him and a bad sign of early winter so his going to the polls quickly is like an escape to Miami in January only far more timely.

It will be an early winter here – and there ... and likely a long and cold one … hope you have set aside enough provisions and fuel for the very long haul that is coming. We have more Moose than can be tallied on an Alaskan Abacus -- and several million acres of uncut firewood around us (Thanks defunct Weyerhaeuser Mill in Prince Albert) so we shall get by … but our concern for our southern neighbours in the Great Republic will make the upcoming season one of discontent …. for how can a good person live equitably if not smugly when tens of millions will be facing hard times. We wish you well in these strange and interesting times … if you ever need to visit the real Lake Woebegone we are here with decent coffee and a chair by the fire… just over a thousand km northeast …. follow the Moose trail …

Let us hope there will be a time to look back on this without great sorrow.

I seriously doubt that many of America's citizens are fully aware of all that will transpire within their country over the next few months but one can surmise that huge wounds that are not yet completely obvious have been inflicted upon the public good. We wish that this were not so ... but that it is a fait accompli can be seen by undertaking a reasonable thought process and drawing conclusions based on the facts.

Tragically as one accrues the available information on the status of your nations fiscal and moral=leadership well being and the prevailing flaws and weaknesses in its multi-faceted physical infrastructure one can only assume the worst is yet to come for those least able to cope.

There is much sadness here as we weep for the children ... and for the elderly who will bear the brunt of the evil done by the usurers and gamblers who have propagandized to such effect that they have maintained a grip on the levers of power for the better part of the last three decades ....

Should the McCain/Palin ticket prevail in November it will be so much the worse .... Should the Obama/Biden ticket prevail it will still be a time of exterme hardship - but there is a least some room for hope should the latter be a fortuitous happenstance.
