"Jesus Camp"

Talk about frightening! I was never scared or shamed to death when I attended church camp. I felt sorry for those kids.

Glenn is absolutely right

I used to assert the price of the First Amendment was tolerating NeoNazi/White Supremacists' speech. It's a price I willingly pay, although I admit I have to swallow hard to avoid choking. Glenn rightly points out the blowback inherent in any speech legislation. We should realize the gift the members of the Constitutional Convention graciously bestowed on us and leave well enough alone.

Aleve shalom

We have lost a wonderful man, a true mensch and a rare example of a successful politician.

Yellow journalism at it's best

The WSJ editorial board wouldn't recognize the truth if it jumped up and bit them in the gonads.

Understanding cats

It's good to know I did the right thing with my cats when their behavior got aggressive - DaBird works everytime, along with generous praise. I don't know anyone, of any species, who doesn't appreciate positive acknowledgement, so that's what I've always done. I avoided feeding them treats because I had to put my 1st cat on a diet. Too many humans are misinformed, and therefore make erroneous assumptions, about feline behavior. I hope the show airs soon.

2nd Gilded Age and deregulation

I started calling our economic situation the 2nd Gilded Age 4 yrs. ago primarily due to 30 yrs. of deregulation. Allowing foxes to guard hen houses begets our current situation. I didn't need an economics degree to figure this out -- I graduated from college 30 yrs. ago -- just the common sense the good Lord gave me. Continuing to worship the Milton Friedman philosophy is utter stupidity at this point, and that's exactly what John McCain says he'll do. We need stepped up federal regulation of the financial sector now, particularly in investment banking and hedge funds which are presently unregulated. Wake up American electorate and throw these bums out in November!

Stephen Colbert: an American Gem

Stephen Colbert must've channelled Mark Twain with his Correspondent's Dinner speech since he left everyone squirming in that room. It was the essense of political parity. Since the fourth estate is completely coopted by the powers that be, both corporate and political, we need satirists like Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart and Bill Maher more than ever. I'm actually heartened by the fact that my neice's generation is choosing these people over the MSM for their primary news source. Their presentation is more accurate and objective since they have the freedom to thumb their noses at those same negative influences on independent journalism. It doesn't matter to me who steps into that crucial role for the overall health of our nation -- John Dean cheered the Daily Show in "Worse than Watergate" -- just as long as someone always does. America can't continue to exist, as we've known it, without patriots like these.

Another Unconstitutional Wild Goose Chase

As if the FBI doesn't have enough legitimate work to do...Profiling will only make it much more difficult to produce successful results. Insanity is doing the same behavior over and over again while expecting a different outcome. How pathetic and sad!

Original article: Hang up and drive

Dee-dee-dee!

I love references to Carlos Mencia, but I digress. I never fell in love with cellphones so, when my employer required me to have one, I was less than pleased. The one condition I insisted on is no conversations on the road. If the situation was critical, I'd call back once I pulled over. My boss decided to try it and discovered he liked it, too. Most people assume that driving is like breathing - something so automatic that it requires no thinking. Maybe that's why I listen to comedy CDs when I'm stuck in traffic. The laughter eliminates any frustration I feel knowing yakkers are a big part of the problem.

Just ask Samantha Bee

Of course women are going to vote for the GOP ticket now...just ask Samantha Bee. She nailed it last night! I haven't laughed that hard in a long, long time.

Financial Katrina

For the past 3 decades, we have been subjected to a fatal combination of wholesale deregulation, complete abandonment of the American manufacturing sector and the Friedman philosophy. The chickens have predictably come home to roost. The end of neoconservative rule began with the aftermath of Katrina. I hope this financial tsunami signals a similar result.

I couldn't agree more

Sarah Palin signed on to this. She deserves no sympathy for suddenly discovering she now embodies the Peter Principle.

Original article: How Sarah Palin blew it

Another clueless neocon

Sarah Palin admires Dick Cheney's handling of the office? That should leave an indellible impression on independent voters. I doubt the vast majority of them would agree. How could anyone beside the true believers condone his incessant assault on the Constitution.

Thanks for the memories!

My refridgerator is covered with Molly Ivins' columns I cut out of the Detroit Free Press over the years. She channeled Mark Twain better than anyone and I sorely miss that. Thanks for sharing your weekend with us - I needed it!

Deep down, this is the real Pat Buchanan

Pat Buchanan continues to this day to rail against anyone who "abandoned" Richard Nixon. What else can anyone expect from him, honestly. Joan, you are an unfailingly polite woman, one any Southern matriarch would be exuberantly proud of. Pat Buchanan may appear as a thoughtful Republican pundit on rare occasions but he's as ideologically driven as his fellow Nixon administration alumni, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld. They preverted the meaning of "unitary Executive", changing it from a single executive (as opposed to a panel of three) into a monarchy. Pat Buchanan and his ilk are hopelessly devoted to an unconstitutional, radical change of our beloved country. The GOP, as it has evolved over the past 40+ years, is anything but inclusive, swallowed whole by their most radical wing. They've transformed themselves into a characature, so how convincing can a cartoon really be?

Surprise, surprise?!

Considering there's nothing conventional about this particular election, it should surprise nobody other than the talking heads that they're wrong more often than usual. That's also why we Obama supporters need to continue to work hard through Election Day.

Sound advice, with one exception

Our President-Elect promised his daughters a puppy in front of the whole World. I hope he becomes as fine a President as he is a father.
