FREDO
[Read the article: Another Republican calls for Gonzales' resignation]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Apostle Fredo of Laredo, Crusader, guardian of virtue, exterminator of evil, purifier of souls, gazes adoringly at his Lord and Master awaiting instructions.
Though his enemies and inquisitors might destroy him, they can never besmirch the purity of his service or the truth of his mission. The battle has just begun.
His mind is clear. He knows he is right. He knows where he is going.
All others will be left behind.
GOD BLESS GONZO

THICK SKINS
[Read the article: Imus offends]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yes, Imus was tasteless, juvenile, insulting. Yes, describing a black person as nappy headed has a loaded racial history and is offensive. But it's fratboy stuff, cheap physical humor, 'Polish Joke' yucks. A 30 second throw away segment to keep commuters awake as they dodge trucks on the Jersey Turnpike. I must have heard equally crass repartee on the Imus show 100 times before. (I admit it's pathetic that I find the irreverence amusing day after day.)
Should he be fired?? Is he a racist?? Father Coughlin??? A hate filled creep?
Come on folks. Black people have thicker skins than that. The 'deeply offended' self-righteous posturing of the PC police and their subscribers is so predictable and tiresome. How sad that Imus had to kiss the ring of Al Sharpton. Tell the rabble he doesn't hate black people, that he's really a good guy.
For a rich, self-involved, immature jerk with questionable taste in music, Imus is probably not so bad, no worse than the rest of us, including Al Sharpton.

N***** in NJ
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Salon gives stars to the letters that are very well reasoned... sensitive reactions to Imus' bullying and the tainting of public airwaves. They all sound a little like really smart high school kids with about as much insight. As boring as the shows that will replace IMUS in the morning slots.
Oh the pain of the Rutgers team!
Let the healing begin.
National dialog about mean speech, degraded public discourse and hurtful words.
What interests me about this whole affair is the reaction to 3 words that essentially had no referent in the real world. They were just words, part of a riff about a subject Imus knows and cares nothing about, women's basketball. No connection in Imus' mind between subject (words) and object (black female athletes). Very much like the Danish 'Mohammed' cartoons and the riots they engendered.
Imus and his producer do tasteless nigger jokes, jew jokes, redneck jokes, priest/predator jokes all the time. Mostly not funny, though sometimes they approach quality satire (Ray Nagin bits are quite good). I prefer his stuff to the patronizing smarmy horseshit served up by the network morning shows. At least his show is an attempt at something artistic, something pushing the boundaries of 'good taste' (the sure demise of creativity) AND he had interesting people speak about issues of the day on the show.
Sanctimonious bastards.
You almost turn me into a republican.

Maybe CBS could get Katie Couric to fill in IMUS morning spot. Lend a bit of gravitas to the proceedings.

schumer,feinstein and the israel lobby
[Read the article: When waterboarding was a crime]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Schumer and Feinstein have caved in to the Israel lobby. It seems obvious. There is no other explanation. The Israel lobby does not want the hard line bond between the Likudniks and neocons exposed in a way which could call this bond into question. The torture issue could make some very good friends of Israel very uncomfortable. Schumer and Feinstein receive great financial support from the Israel lobby. They cannot go against it when push comes to shove.
If Mukasey said waterboarding was torture, it would subject the Bush adminisatration to criminal prosecutions which could embarrass friends of Israel in the U.S.
How sad that we have descended to this sad state of affairs. We plunge further into the Zionist/Christian nightmare.

glenn, keep blowin'
[Read the article: Tucker Carlson unintentionally reveals the role of the American press]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thank you Glenn. I read your posts religiously. Your voice is clear and always to the point.
The ass kissing and pathetic journalistic standards of the 'serious' commentators and pundits makes me want to scream. They are all so grateful and self-satisfied to be part of the 'club'.
When The Times hired Bill Kristol I saw the handwriting on the wall. I've started looking for a job in Canada.

[Read the article: What should Hillary Clinton do now?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Oh Joan,
You are a fine editor. Stick to editing. Your posts are embarrassing. You sound like a 7th grade social studies teacher. I know you have empathy for poor Hillary. You are both members of "the under-appreciated, long suffering women's club". But enough is enough. Call a desperado a desperado. Now she's running as the candidate of dumb old white people. Make her disappear before she becomes a suicide bomber.

credentials?
[Read the article: She won't go easy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]CP is always a pleasure to read. Her writing is unpretentious and she says what she thinks. She doesn't have a "position" that she has to defend. She is comfortable enough with herself to be able to express violent urges toward political hacks like McCauliffe. Derranged?? No, just refreshingly non-PC.
Her take on Hillary is indisputable.
