@stackey

Agree with you on all points except the assumptions you have made about me. I made NO blanket statements about who is on welfare, but statistically, taking the sub group and dividing into the whole, more people of color are on welfare than other sub groups. This being said, we need to do something about it. THROWING money at the problem has made it worse, and I am a social worker and I do care. We have a system in place that pays young girls to have children--it gives them housing (section 8), food (food stamps and afdc), and other forms of assistance. Many times this is much better than their previous home. THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM especially when staying in school and achieving academically is considering a put down and you are teased about it.

Thus, I take great offense when someone from the black community asks for more money and blames the 'effects of racism' on white people. I cannot control what young men and women of color do. I can work, I can write letters, and I can plead but Hollywood and the lure of 'my baby daddy' is much greater than reality--which doesn't hit until after it is too late. The Black community is going to have to step forward and say NO MORE CHILDREN until you can afford them--thus insuring that black children get educated and a career thus HALTING poverty in its tracks. Until this happens, there is almost nothing we can do to stop the problem.

Futhermore, Racism exists in Africa and America between BLACK PEOPLE (lighter vs. darker and tribe vs. tribe) and it is two-way street. Tribes in Africa increase their net worth by kidnapping and enslaving other tribesmen and women, and let's not even talk about genital mutilation. Thus, I also take great offense when we talk about how bad America is when if you look at Africa you will see it is much worse and it continues today....

Finally, if you want to have a real discourse on race than you have to be able to talk the truth, and not pussyfoot around the issues. This means looking at Africa, the role this country and her people played and continue to play regarding slavery, the effects of slavery in America, and what ALL people can do to make the world a better place. While we are addressing racism, we can also start the discourse on sexism. Until both of these issues are addressed in real time by all persons, equality will be just be a maddening dream.

Sexual slavery and the caste system was not what we were talking about...

But I 100% agree with you that other forms of slavery exist (not sure about the genesis of Russian slavery--i.e. gender or class or race based) and are GROWING, but I do NOT lump gender based slavery in with racial slavery because we are talking about RACE based slavery specifically in regards to this political election and the situation in America.

The hypocrisy is what I want to address, specifically in regards to black Americans labeling white Americans as both racist and beneficiaries of slavery. The African continent and her people are equally as guilty, with a big difference being that they CONTINUE this practice today while America not only stopped but established many programs to combat residual effects of slavery. This hypocrisy is what makes me dizzy, and is what we are speaking about specifically as it relates to Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton.

I did not talk about poverty and the problems of welfare in the white community because it was not the issue at hand. However, I can go there immediately. MORE white people are on forms of welfare than all other subgroups but together, and many of the same problems afflicting people of color afflict them.

My heart breaks for poor women and children, and if I could pull them all up and out of poverty I would do so. The problem is that from my perspective, and it is one based on a lifetime of first hand information and love, the problem cannot be solved purely with money. It has to start in the home, in the family, in the heart. Tell me how to do this, and I will already be there doing it. And I won't stop until every child has a chance at a good life.

@delores

Than you don't know many people working in social service. I am NOT talking about funding education, but funding CHILDREN HAVING CHILDREN. See, once a child has a child the cycle repeats condemning both (for the most part) to the vicious cycle of poverty. And school funding issues are NOT WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT, but we can go there right now. When you take a child that has been raised on tv, McDonalds, no reading in the home, etc., etc., ALMOST NO AMOUNT of money will make that child 'equal' to a child that has had good nutrition, good sleep habits, and reading instead of television being the focal point in the home. I'm not saying let's not try, but there have been 1000's of studies and reports done on this and it is a very depressing reality. What happens in the womb through the first 4 years is the biggest predictor of what will happen to the child, and there is almost nothing that we can do if you look at present data to stop what is happening.

School funding is a big problem, and I am 100% in agreement with you that EVERY SCHOOL in EVERY DISTRICT in AMERICA should have the same amount of funding. And I am 100% in agreement with you that racism is a major issue in regards to the disparity.

But, that still has nothing to do with this political election, Mr. Obama, and Mrs. Clinton. You are so quick to jump on me for stating a truth about blacks that is negative that this discourse can never truly begin. I am the republican racist, and you are the without faults black person, and never the twain shall meet.
