Unfortunately, none of them are any good.
[Read the article: Republicans play politics with war funding]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The real travesty is that the Democrats have fallen on their face and embarrysed themselves essentially since they took power in January.
A few highlights on the Democratic Side:
-Nancy Pelosi agreeing to remove language saying we WOULD NOT attack Iran.
-Hillary Clinton today giving some sort of legitimacy to the farce of the moderate Republicans.
-No one, well 3 Democrats, backing Kucinich's Impeachment bid of Dick Cheney.
-The beating they have taken over all of the blossoming scandals and their seeming helplessness in the face of obvious stonewalling by the White House and its allies.
-Not taking action to protect voter rights sufficiently or depoliticize our government.
On the Republican Side: I dont think that mess needs to be rehashed.
Essentially the whole "war funding battle" is a farce as big and possibly worse than the moderate senators and all the scandals that are currently happening. I cannot clearly recall where but I read online that a group of Republican Senators had met with the Generals in Iraq, months ago, and had basically said September was when they would get serious about withdrawing from Iraq. Everyone is so busy trying to seem like they are doing something when they all already know that nothing is going to happen in their carefully choreographed dance until September.

The Most Uncomfortable Question of the Night
[Read the article: What you missed while watching "Dancing With the Stars"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I watched the Republican debate and I think the most interesting question of the night was the one that focused on them all being white males and lacking representative diversity amongst their parties presidential candidates.
I think they all took were completely stumped by this as evidenced by their responses (or non responses).
I do not remember exactly who said what but it was funny to see them all struck dumb by this question and cover their behinds so as not to appear racist/elitist.

Gonzales Leaving
[Read the article: Hagel: Gonzales must go]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]He can be impeached and removed. All of this strikes me as more posturing to seem effective.

I agree with Realname
[Read the article: All hail the king]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Complaining and moaning about impeachment will not accomplish anything because the whole system is broken. Our constitution besides being a set of laws was also a way for lawful revolutionary change (voting). That system has been broken and undermined so the only real choice left to the peopleto enact change is the same choice that the founding fathers used...Revolution.

Re: Why Not Impeachment
[Read the article: All hail the king]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]There should be no impeachment right now because the entire system has been subverted. Do you honestly think that he will get the trial he, and his buddies Cheney etc., deserves in the Senate with his co-conspirators, the Rebuplicans and the Democrats acting as jury (let alone Chief Justice Roberts presiding)? Thats if it even gets past the initial round in the House(Anyone remeber how many votes Kucinich has so far on his Articles of Impeachment of Cheney?).
Before we Impeach them, we need to revolutionize our system of government to ensure that the proper checks and balances are restored and being managed by people who believe in the ideals of the government above their own private affiliations.
Thats why I believe Impeachment will not be worth the effort. Outside of the fact that if it does happen they will all get a slap on the wrist (unless they sacrifice enough of their lackeys to satisfy everyones need for their impeachment or just flat out beat the impeachment charges) and walk into the shadows and become unseen (and possibly) more dangerous puppetmasters than they are now.

Its all so sick
[Read the article: Psych meds drove my son crazy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I will begin by qualifying myself. I worked in mental health for over 5 years from the floor up from psych tech in a mental hospital, needs assessment specialist, assistant to the director of continuum of care for a residentail treatment facility and finaly as a case manager for an intensive in home program.
There is a disconnect in those who provide treatment for alot of poeple in situations like the one described in this article. I have worked with doctors who all to often have said, "What meds are they on?" "Lets increase them." Without seeing the patient or attempting to address any underlying needs or changes (in one case the onset of puberty) that may have had some effect on the patients physiology.
Part of the disconnect comes from how medicaid and other insurace companies demand that its services are billed (in discrete 10-15 minute units)and then how the local mental health facilites promote this within their agencies. I was once told by a supervisor that I should "take a client fishing" to get more units and bill it as a "therapeutic exercise". The other part comes from the intrusion of big pharmaceutical companies and their kickbacks etc as described by others.
I finally grew tired and became wore down with fighting this massive system and eventually left it. Your letter brought tears to my eyes and I felt your pain not because I have been in the same situation but because I have been on the other side of the fence and fought a similar fight. I am glad in your case things came out for the good.
