[Read the article: Killing the wolves again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

You say: "I'm also privileged enough that I don't have to go kill something in order to eat." Are you vegan? Are you contemptuous of the slaughterhouse worker who does your killing for you? Is it only OK for a human to kill an animal in a factory setting? Is it best if that worker hates his job?

As for hunters, we enjoy hunting. Hunting does not equate with killing. Most hunts are not "productive" in that nothing is harvested. Most hunts are great experiences though. Amongst ourselves, hunters are divided on the wolf issue. Some support eradication, others support reintroduction and management. We're not all cut from the same cloth, sorry.

Regardless, most of us see right through most of the support for wolves. It comes from anti gun groups who don't really give a crap about wolves or people. They care about controlling others. They want to end private gun ownership and ending hunting is just a stepping stone. The wolves are mere tools in their agenda. I honestly believe those people would smile each time a wolf killed a child. They really don't care.

Another question: Would you prefer if there were no hunters? After all, we're the ones that scour the woods and discover the stuff that many folks would rather keep hidden. Stuff ranging from corpses to illegal dumping to clear cutting. Would it be best if no one except workers and government inspectors ever went into the back woods? You know, the places that backpackers "discover" when they get lost.

OK, I'll drop the charade right now: Yes, I like hunting things.

  • Jeez, Andrew

If you want to write war room articles, can you please post them to war room? I'm sure Koppelman would let you.

Surely something important happened recently effecting how the

    world works.

    Let's see...

    Indonesia leaving OPEC

China asking Japan's to send troops for earthquake relief

Electron avalanche improvements to solar cells

    ...

    I'm sure there's more.

Are you getting bored with your HTWW beat?

    sigh

  • Thank goodness

[Read the article: It's a gas gas gas]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

We have our Andrew back. You know, the well traveled and insightful guy that usually blogs HTWW.

Earlier this week, some shill got access to Andrew's account and posted crap. You know, political shots that got some fan boys pumping their fists but left the rest of us wanting.

Andrew is the guy that wrote "Why gas is so expensive". Stuff like that is his niche. Few people have the depth to tackle that project. Contrast that to war room and greenwald. war room is pretty much a cheering section whereas greenwald is more of a Greek chorus. The world is rich in people that could write either of those blogs. HTWW has benefited from a uniquely gifted writer but is also cursed by the same thing. It's readership comes looking for quality, breadth, and deep analysis. Anything less just tarnishes the reputation upon which Andrew has worked so long and hard.

Thanks for coming back Andrew. Next time you're writing a feature, can you please hide your password?

  • A little confused

[Read the article: A Scott McClellan flashback]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

So scotty wrote a book that panders to the people most likely to run out and buy it. Sounds like he's just chasing cash.

We spent years watching him tell lies. We made fun of his sorry efforts in the face of impeaching evidence. Still, he insisted on saying things that his masters wanted to hear.

Now, he tells folks on left the things they want to hear. Boy does that sell books! Where did his sudden credibility come from? Has he done anything to make anyone believe he is no longer a lying tool?

I wish the media coverage of his book had been more about his lying and perjury in the past. Perhaps a photo pairing him with james frey.

My favorite Onion headline was "Tuskegee airmen honored at white house service entrance" from "Our Dumb Century"

The German government is reducing subsidies for solar installations because the bill was getting to high.

Somehow, I doubt subsidies keep prices high in that realm.

  • Not in my experience

[Read the article: Drunk lady looks like a dude?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I've found that drinking makes women look more attractive.

More seriously, appealing to vanity would be a better anti smoking campaign. Smoking really seems to weather a face. That and tanning. Tan today, wrinkled visage tomorrow.

  • more investigation

[Read the article: Say goodbye to that SUV in the sky]

The cost of fuel excuse doesn't make sense. I heard that airline occupancy rates were way up. Are they having trouble filling their planes? Are they retiring inefficient aircraft?

The only reason that I can see for reducing capacity is that they are actually losing money on each flight - including the routes they are keeping. Are they putting up a united (pardon the pun) front in hopes of getting the government to step in?

I think it is more likely that their business model is broken. It's tough for an old company to adapt to new methods of achieving the same result. Look at what happened when the majors tried to emulate Southwest with Song (delta?) and Ted (dunno). Same business, different paint job, failure.

  • what about Obama?

[Read the article: Does OPEC want Obama to win? ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Perhaps you could have picked a portion of the filing that said "Obama", "democrat", or "republican"? Otherwise, I don't see how Leonard is supporting his claims about Klayman's intent.

Unless, of course, there is no support.

  • pick and choose

[Read the article: Supreme Court strikes down D.C. gun ban]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Why do so many people treat civil rights as a gift basket that they pick and choose from - and that they can force that choice on others.

Most progressives love the 1st amendment and hate the 2nd.

Most conservatives love the 2nd but hate the 1st.

Then there's the bipartisan fight currently raging over the 4th.

Women's rights groups love a "right to privacy" that was actually created by the supreme court. (We should push for an actual amendment guaranteeing privacy).

It sure would be nice if more people valued every single civil right shared by us all.
