How to vote? Easy enough.

If there is a third party candidate, vote that way. Even if the candidate is repugnant. The worst that can happen is 4 years of DC gridlock.

Otherwise, vote giuliani, even though he's a fascist shithead. Also, vote dem for every other seat. Hopefully they'll crowd him enough that he can't swing his dick in as wide an arc as he wants.

The reasoning:

No real harm is incurred because both are the same and will act similarly in office.

Voting for a woman isn't progressive in this case 'cause she's a closeted republican chicken hawk.

It breaks the religious right's hold on the GOP.

It might inform the dem power elite that they should try backing actual liberals.

Note: If you absolutely have to vote for hillary, vote for repubes on every thing else because she's already trying out strap ons and testing them for heft. If lacking house/senate support she might settle for one that stays above the hem line.

I really like the term "security theater". It's so much more concise than asking how airport security can work when they can't keep drugs out of prisons.

The person that mentioned martial artists is correct. (Note:special forces guys are martial artists). The subject comes up every now and then at the dojo and almost always at a big event. Everyone agrees the security is either incompetent or just for show. According to the "Hamburg Cell" movie, the 911 hijackers trained for years but not much in martial arts. If they had, they would've used found objects instead of box cutters. Someday martial artists will be banned from flying or put on the "hog tie and blindfold" list. Maybe we'll even get some nice stackable Hannibal Lector traveling rigs.

I used to wear a lot of biker gear and got a kick out of stripping for airport security. I'd strip until they said stop. After a while, I started traveling in pajamas and slippers. Before the shoe bomber thing, I'd kick my slippers into an xray bin and they'd often tell me to take them back out.

Security can never be 100%. Everyone knows that. It should instead be meaningful and not designed to make the gullible feel secure from oversold threats. Drug smugglers were arrested at JFK today, they were sneaking drugs onto and off of planes. It confirms what we've known - the front door has cameras, guards, and barricades but the house is wide open from the back and sides.

Put away your wide eyed trusting belief next time you pass through a security check. Instead, think about it's intended purpose and how you could circumvent it. Think about the threats they are trying to counter. You'll quickly realize it is all theater with a spotlight on the threat du-jour .

It's completely consistent for leftychris to hold those views and still be left wing. You mentioned traveling the eastern block during the communist times. Those communists exemplified the far far left.

Ah yes, time to make machismo a character flaw. Not that those candidates really have it. They're peacocks, not macho. Big show with nothing to back it up.

More interesting, to me, is that so many liberals are back to hating machismo.

Meanwhile, there are lots of folks who have, understand, and expect a certain amount of machismo in grown men. It has more to do with the community you're raised in than with politics. For example, Bill Clinton oozes machismo. Stand him next to giuliani for a few minutes. Compare and contrast. It isn't what they say or what they're doing. It's what they are. Bill shows more machismo while sipping wine than rudy would while round house kicking a line backer. (eg. dukakis driving that tank, kerry goose hunting).

Hillary is more macho than the three candidates wally carped about. She just doesn't seem macho when Bill is in the room. She easily out machos, and dominates, the other dem candidates, except for Richardson.

What wally communicated with his article is that he gets prissy when dominated by someone he doesn't like. When hillary walks up, he happily rushes to bended knee.
