Hillary
[Read the article: The Hillary juggernaut]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why is Hillary being jammed down our throats 24/7 by commentators of all stripes? Good grief. What is going on here, far beyond the usual GOP manipulations?
I voted for Gore despite his dreadful campaign and disagreement with many of his positions simply because I knew Bush would do what he's done, not because I'm a Democrat (which I'm not). Ditto Kerry. I will not vote for Hillary, mostly because I wouldn't trust her with that much power. Further, I don't think she can win, so why waste the Democratic nomination on her? If need be, I'll change my registration to vote against her in the Democratic primary.
To me, Chuck Hagel, among many possibilities, would be a better choice for the country, but so long as people continue to care only about party and their pet causes (just like this congress and administration), rather than the national interest, this country will lose even more than it already has.

Kerry's Penance
[Read the article: It's the war, stupid]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]John Kerry clearly won't need his 2008 campaign stash. He should send it now to Demo campaigns where it could make a difference.

D'Souza needs to check his history
[Read the article: How the left caused 9/11, by Dinesh D'Souza]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]D'Souza hasn't done his homework. Actually, the roots of anti-American terrorism lie in the 1953 overthrow by Eisenhower's CIA of democratically elected Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh. The coup was orchestrated by British Intelligence and the CIA after Mossadegh nationalized Iran's oil industry in 1951, an action that threatened British oil interests in Iran.

The whole sad tale is laid out in Stephen Kinzer's All the Shah’s Men: An American Coup and the Roots of Middle East Terror. Good read.

A correction
[Read the article: Obama's double magic]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Re this from Kamiya's otherwise good piece: ". . . [Sullivan] ignores the fact that MoveOn and its ilk only came into existence in response to the destructive depredations of the Bush administration and its powerful right-wing allies." As I recall, MoveOn came into existence in response to the impeachment effort against Bill Clinton and provided a fundraising vehicle for selected Dem congressional candidates, which I supported. The ugly depredations of George Bush et al., which came much later, merely intensified the partisanship of that organization to an unfortunate extreme, which appears to have backfired. More's the pity, in my view.
Thanks.

Author Frost not convinced!
[Read the article: Obama is wrong about the gas tax]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Mr. Frost has so many caveats and "even if's" in his piece that he appears skeptical of his own premise.
