Original article: The Exxon recession

Again, stick with the talking points

America is 1 trillion percent going to nuke Iran, tomorrow, high noon PST. THEN, after that we're going to invade Caracas and make them all watch MTV and go to Disneyworld and become fat white Christians.

Iran for example imports 80%+ of all their refined product. Why? They don't want to spend any money building the infrastructure. About 7 years ago ELF Aquitaine did a study for them which concluded that Iran (and Iraq too) had not invested in their nationalized infrastructure since around 1980 and as a result Iran would need to inject between 20-40 billion dollars to improve it. Particularly in the areas of steam injection in order to more efficiently get the oil out. Why? Because their wells have been in constant production since 1938 and are actually beginning to play out.

I mean you ARE the peak oil people, aren't you?

But clearly all this non investment, likewise non investment in Venezuelan oil infrastructure, is counter intuitive. One would think that it's common sense not to kill the goose that lays the golden egg. But this discounts the political reality of being able to produce money w/o ever having to show a profit let alone open your accounting books. That's what nationalization is.

Cuban electrical utilities: failing and falling apart

Cuban sugar crop: can't export a profit at even 3x the market price

Venezuelan oil: wasted to fund political adventurism

Iranian oil: collapsing as we speak while Iran spends billions on 'peaceful' nuclear power.

Jamaican bauxite mining: half the island is a TOXIC waste site.

Congo: nationalized mining, Africa's first world war and 4 million dead.

C.A.R. (Central Afican Republic): COLTAN nationalized and now the French Army is permanently stationed there.

Sudan: Nationalized oil need I say more?

Sierre Leon: nationalized oil, west Africa's worst genocide.

Nigeria: nationalized oil, 2 civil wars, breakaway provinces and a 25% DROP in output as oil money is spent as political favors to favored tribes.

Gabon: nationalized oil, 30 years and still no meaningful production.

See the problem is that it only works in theory. In practice, it's a failure. People are who they are. Extractive economies depress all other efforts at development. Why else do you think that the Saudi Royal family's ownership of the oil economy results in the 'government' comprising 80% of the GDP? Why do you think that essentially no Saudi subjects have meaningful jobs?

If you want oil companies regulated like utilities that's one thing. But tossing it over the wall to the government is a huge mistake.

IaintBacchus

That's too bad. There's something in the water making you all stupid. One group is lashing out in desperation and the other is gleefully pissing on them. Some beauty contest. Maybe we don't need to actually hold elections anymore, just endless campaigns to ensure everyone is entertained.

In the US, which is about 10 years behind everyone else

Broadband penetration is about 60%. You don't need fiber, cable or DSL will work fine. In other countries it's much much higher.

Then why use email at all? Or the phone for that matter, or the postal service

See, who says only YOUR paranoia is the good kind? Why aren't you in a bunker or a cave or in the woods pretending to be the Unabomber?

George W Cotton Mather Palin will be the LAST President of the United States.

Those are warcrimes

Anything less than lilly livered ass kissing correctness is a war crime. I demand they all be collectively erased from history.

I'll go with the lose part

And if McCain looses there will be a redneck rebellion. I can't think of anything more entertaining I'd like to see than riots in the streets, flames, police helicopters, tear gas and civil anarchy. Just don't uprise on Wednesday, that's my bowling night.

I smell a Lifetime movie

Meek female discovers her inner empowered lioness by killing the evil roomate. Jean Smart will play her mother.

Thursday, October 30, 2008 02:24 PM

Why?

It's Slacktastic, that's why. Dood! Voting is so, whatever.

Thursday, October 30, 2008 02:28 PM

And, so what then?

What makes you think that Congress will suddenly grow a spine? What makes you think that having 60 or 99 or 100 Senators would make any difference. Clearly Democrats in the Senate took the 2006 elections as a sign for them to kick back and do nothing. When called upon to so much as suggest that Bush was a dictator, they pussied out. Every single time. Even St. Christ Lordbama voted to gut FISA. So if the Dems get a filibuster proof Senate, what makes you think they'll even bother deliberate anything at all?

Thursday, October 30, 2008 02:30 PM

Yeah but you can't do that any more

A woman can't cook or dress herself or put on perfume. That's objectification. She can call her a husband a fucking moron though and laugh as he does something stupid. Let's roll with that.

One thing that's different now is that

TV and print models went on to become stars. Now it's the other way around.

I just want an excuse to run around and shoot people

I don't really care who, they're all largely interchangeable. Let's blow some shit yup.

Anything is better than the last 8 years, even extinction.

Original article: When filth is not enough

then come over to Glenn's column

My comments are automatically deleted should they deviate in the least from Greenwald doctrine. Censorship is in no way strictly the domain of the people you hate.

Original article: Obama's infomercial night

My opponent smokes crack and sodomizes dead babies

Was there anything else? No? Tank you and remember to vote for me - OR YOU WILL BE KILLED!

Word to the wise

Do NOT fuck with Liberals in Chapel Hill. That's slightly more to the left than a Communists for a Free Berkeley convention. Frankly I'm amazed they didn't burn his house down but probably someone realized the smoke would foul mother earth.

Original article: Are the polls tightening?

Can we punch 'undecideds' in the head yet?

Seriously, why not, they're already brain damaged.

Thursday, October 30, 2008 08:45 PM

Yeah let's just kill people.

Ok let's do that. And while we're at it, if you hit my car because it has a sticker on it, I'll crush your kids under the wheels. Fine by me, assholes.

Why not just be married 4 days a week

And the other 3 days do whatever whomever wherever you like.
