Which of course they don't have a clear idea of how many of those they have. Not declaring an election is old fare for NC. In 2004 we had 2 elections that went through the courts for almost 2 YEARS before a revote was run. TarHeelistan I am confident will move heaven and earth and the bones of Jesse Helms to symbolically declare McCain the winner.
The only battles in this battleground state, were fought in the 1860's.
Other ethnicities were given the vote at various times on a state by state basis. For instance Jews were given the vote in NC in 1868, in New Hampshire 1876.
A recount is required there by law.
Really? Never? Never Ever? What, are ALL of you Spike Lee? It's a kind of a huge insult to all the black governors, state office holders, even a few Senators and Congressmen and judges.
Never? Never Ever Ever?
Prop 8 didn't ban gay marriage it REVERSED a civil right that already existed. Interesting precedent. All those 'rights' you thought you had? Yeah we can wipe them out with the stroke of a pen and there's nothing you can do about it if we can get a sufficiently loud group of assholes to scream about it.
I think we should apply this approach to gun ownership ASAP.
If Prop 8 can subtract a civil right that's already in force then we should learn from this and use that method to freeze out gun owners state by state by state.
It remains uncalled with an Obama 12106 vote lead and ~40,000 uncounted undeclared provisional ballots. Historically about 1/3rd of those are tossed out.
Because of Black Church objection to a hate speech bill that would forbid them from excoriating gays.
That genuine or not, if John McCain was as direct and eloquent during his campaign as he was for his concession speech, things might have turned out differently.
So from a purely gender basis that's a wash.
In that I'm sure there's a slough of people dumb enough to fall for it. Next time round we'll hear how some people got calls instructing them to kill themselves. And they did.
Which is the point, after all. I think you'll find that candidates run from the wings and govern from the center. I predict that Greenwald/Kamiya &co. will start complaining mid March that Obama isn't following the 'mandate' they personally gave him. I suppose the deeper point is that the Salons of the world should feel happy and proud today as is their right but in terms of real effect they have almost none.
And we should not forget that the Senate still doesn't have the requisite 300 trillion percent of all seats in the known universe it would take for them to do their job. They'll be the church mice they've been so far. Which in a strange way will leave Obama to rule w/o checks and balances much in the same fashion as George Bush.
I want to see more of this. Let's simply roll back guns. Or have a referendum that if you've ever been convicted of a crime you lose your kids. Let's pass a proposition that takes away your first and fifth amendment rights. Let's take the vote away from the same black people who voted yes on P-8.
Hey the people hath spoken. I bet we could get them to speak pretty much whatever we like.
