a) the first year or three of college is remedial nonsense they were all stoned to learn in high school.

b) most people barely need more than an 8th grade education to make it in the McWorld.

But a lot of backwards hat wearing slackers, homies and frat boys pay for the few who actually get something out of the experience. Cut enrollment by half and colleges will double or triple the price.

But honestly, Community College is probably the way to go. Get your AA, and, if you want transfer 70% of those credits to a BS or BA program. It's cheaper, it's just as rigorous and you can stop after two years with something to show for it.

More and more high schools are starting programs that graduate HS students with an AA degree - take on another year, a 13th grade as it were and you get a HS diploma and a 2 year college degree. This is a great solution and I highly recommend it.
