What about Amelie?
[Read the article: "The Da Vinci Code"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"If your faith is so fragile that Tom Hanks is going to change your entire belief system, then..."
Tom Hanks, no. But your faith doesn't have to be fragile to be changed by Audrey Tautou.

Mostly Agree w/Heather
[Read the article: Much ado about nothing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]but..."Is Chase the architect of some elaborate experiment in human behavior and expectations, and we're his unwitting guinea pigs?'
I think she's got the Chase and the
Sopranos ixed up with J.J. Abramd and Lost.
-
Ann Coulter...
[Read the article: Is this the end for Ann Coulter?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...should be repeatedly anally raped with a barbed dildo. That's a good one, right? Oh well, I'm sure Ann finds it funny. That kind of stuff is knee-slappingly hilarious, and if you don't get it, well then you're just a humorless liberal.

Cooper
[Read the article: Blowhard 360]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Don't tar with blue states with this narcissistic twit.
-
Rush...
[Read the article: Rush Limbaugh and the little blue pill]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Rush and Viagra in a third world country? The phrase "sex tour" immediately comes to mind. The only reason Rush would be going there with a full bottle of Viagra is to have lots of sex with children. If there was a picture next to the word "pedophile" in the dictionary, it would be a picture of Rush Limbaugh. Fucking pervert.

News Organization v. Advocacy Group
[Read the article: Salon responds to Sen. Dole]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What I'm assuming Ms. Walsh was referring to was that Salon adheres to the standards of professional journalism, and would not misrepresent the facts of an issue in order to score political points. And I'm grateful for that, because in addition to getting solid reporting, I know what I read here is unlikely to be used as another example of simple "Bush bashing."
If Salon reports stories that reflect badly on the admiminstration, it's the administration's fault, not Salon's.

By The Way
[Read the article: Dancing in the dark]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I agree with the commenters who say this guy is immature and shallow.
He's stupid, too. The best fucks I've had in my life have been fat and/or far less than model quality women.

Not Slimy
[Read the article: Joe Lieberman's race-baiting attack ad]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I pretty much despise Joe Lieberman. However, I think that your description of the flyer is over the top. It's not "race-baiting" as much as it says Joe is on the side of the African-American community. Due to his opposition to affirmaitve action, I may disagree, but he still has a right to say it.

Lieberman
[Read the article: Demonizing fellow Democrats]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This from the Washington Post:
"[Lieberman] is a leading advocate of a robust and muscular foreign policy and a proponent of values-based politics."
What is "robust and muscular' about starting wars you can't finish? I am really tired of using the euphemism "muscular" to describe people who are overeager to send other people into war to die on their whim. It's not muscular; it's as weak as weak can get.
-
Katrina and the Democrats
[Read the article: Katrina is a "regional" concern. Let's talk about 9/11]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The liberal commentariat seems certain the the Democrats are going to play the Katrina card hard in the '06 election. I, however, haven't seen any evidence of this, and frankly, given the overall tonedeafness and general political cowardice of the Democratic establishment, I'll believe it when I see it.
If anyone has information that would contradict my pessimism, I'd be happy to hear it.

Is that the Best They Can Do?
[Read the article: Do bloggers clear brush, too?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Lame. The only group that can lead us to defeat this November are the Beltway Democrats. The Republicans seemed to have given up.

I'll Miss This Piece Of...
[Read the article: The gory finish]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]..."overrated klunk."
At least twice this season (the fight between Dority and Capt. Walker, and Alma Ellsworth's solitary walk to the Bank), I found my self literally sitting on the edge of my couch.
I have never enjoyed a serial drama on television a tenth as much as Deadwood. Why? Because it had a plot, and not simply the soap opera type plot of contrived conflict, the resolution of which may or may not be in keeping with the relevant characters (see, Sopranos, Season 3-6). Deadwood was driven by the desire to impose order out of chaos, and then the brutal imposition of 19th-Century robber baron greed on that fragile order.
And thanks, Heather, for laying out the scene between Utter and Hearst; I felt the tension in that scene in my gut. I also had to replay the final exchange between Utter and Bullock ("Layin' head to pillow and convincin' oneself one's not a __________? "Works for me.").
I'll miss this show like it was a good friend.

The Verbal Tic...
[Read the article: War critics as Nazi appeasers? How about slavery supporters?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...of "some people say" has gotton out of hand. At this point, anytime one of these fascist wannabes claim "some people say" or "some people thought," the media should automatically respond with "Who are these people? Where can they be found?", followed by "aren't you just setting up a strawman in order to avoid dealing with honest criticism of your policies?"
But the media just sit there, as Bob somerby would stay, staring into air, and dutifully transcribing this calumny against critics of what has become a complete train wreck of a presidency.

Rahm Emmanuel is in the House of Representatives, Not The Senate
[Read the article: Lies on Iraq? A Senate report won't be ready for the election -- again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Plus, it's time for Jay Rockefeller to be "Liebermanned" out of the party. That guy is completely worthless, and has only enabled the Republican agenda over the last five years. I woud guess that being an heir to one of the world's great fortunes would screw up your perspective.
-
What About Lamont?
[Read the article: Carter delivers a jolt for Joe]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Is he even campaigning? I have read nothing about him since the primary.
-
Webb on Women
[Read the article: Allen on race, Webb on women]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yes, you are absolutely right. There is no difference whatsoever between associating with the modern day Ku Klux Klan, hanging a noose in the governor's office, or publicly using racial slurs and questioning whether it's appropriate to put women into combat situations.
Thanks for working against a potential Democratic Senate pickup.

Just to Clarify...
[Read the article: Sen. Leahy on the "un-American" detainee interrogation bill]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...none of these bills have been enacted as of yet, correct? And if I am correct, then it's a little premature to condemn the Democrats for not stopping it, is it not?

I used to Live in a Roach-Infested Apartment
[Read the article: Tom Reynolds, meet your chief of staff]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]And this reminds me of what would happen when i walked into the kitchen late at night and turned on the light. Apparently, if you vote the right way, and raise alot of campaign money, the rule for Republicans is, if you solicit children for sex, just don't get caught.
