Original article: Girl crush: Mary J. Blige

Mary J Blige is a goddess walking the earth, and she deserves all the fur and bling she desires.

Mary J Blige can have any kind of God she wants.. creepy how the religious police from the Saudi post have shown up in here! This is what you sound like when you criticize Mary, yes all in caps like an old person's email: OMG THAT PERSON WHO HAS DONE AMAZING THINGS JUST TO FUCKING SURVIVE THAT I COULD PROBABLY NEVER FUCKING DO IN A MILLION YEARS AND WHO HAS CONSISTENTLY USED HER SUCCESS TO HELP OTHERS, GUESS WHAT, THAT PERSON IS LIKE WEARING AN EXPENSIVE PIECE OF JEWELRY OR PERHAPS SOMETHING THAT HURTS ANIMALS OR THE ENVIRONMENT OR SOMETHING WHICH NEEDS TO BE POINTED OUT ESPECIALLY IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF THIS POST RE: MJB HELPING HUMAN BEINGS OUT OF GRINDING POVERTY AND THE PERSISTENT AND PERSISTENTLY IGNORED ARTIFACTS OF SLAVERY AND VICTIMIZATION OF BLACK WOMEN, LIKE THE ONE I'M ATTACKING FOR WEARING FUR EVEN THOUGH SHE IS PULLING BLACK FAMILIES AND FUTURE GENERATIONS OUT OF CYCLES OF IGNORANCE AND POVERTY THAT HAVE PERSISTED FOR CENTURIES RIGHT UNDER OUR FUCKING NOSES IN A SYSTEM SO INSIDIOUS THAT IT'S PERPETUATED BY ITS VICTIMS, WHO ARE THEN CONVENIENTLY BLAMED FOR THE WHOLE THING! OH NO I'M SUCH A PASSIVE RACIST IDIOT, EVEN IF I'M ALSO BLACK! SOMEBODY PLEASE BREAK MY FINGERS SO I CAN'T EMBARASS MYSELF BY TYPING ANYMORE LETTERS TO SALON ABOUT MJB'S INSIDIOUS FUR AND BLING TRAVESTY!

Come back and judge Mary after you have pulled yourself out of poverty, overcome childhood sexual abuse, navigated your way out of codependent, servitude-love-trap drug-addiction-aided cycles of abusive relationships and shattered self-esteem, the sense of hopelessness felt by the most marginalized, neglected, dismissed and criticized demographic in a society and system designed to keep poor people that way, targeting whoever is the most vulnerable because IT CAN, allowed by a society that encourages the abuse and neglect of black women, the artifacts of slavery promoted by the sound of silence, willful and willed ignorance about what really happened centuries ago, this ignorance being the one and only reason why it is allowed to continue, allowed even by the victims themselves. Mary pulled and pulled and pulled herself out of a ceaseless and insidious succession of traps and failures without losing her mind or her will to love, without becoming bitter or vengeful, without being killed, jailed or trapped forever in poverty, instead metamorphosing into a successful, famous, wealthy, positive black female role model philanthropist dedicated to breaking the shackles of the most vulnerable and neglected members of our society.

This is just a continuation of the work that she already started with her music. Mary J Blige was already helping women goin through or trying to get over what she experienced by making her music which expresses the pain, encourages the healing and promotes positive change .. transmitting her powerful and indefatigable will and love through her music, so that anyone can sing "I've got to be out my mind to think I need someone to carry me!" Mary J reaches her hand down into the water, showing that the surface isn't far away, you don't have to drown, and you don't have to do it alone. In the same song also pointing out obvious things that a woman in an abusive-dependent relationship is blind to, the recognition of which can break the spell, making the song itself actually a practical and powerful tool which in and of itself can help wake the listener from an abusive relationship cycle. That's God-like power, that is a force of goodness working on everything in its reach.

That is truly disgusting

"As for Mary J. Blige, I wish she could experience just 5 minutes of the horrendous pain and suffering experienced by the animals whose skins and fur she hangs off her body."

That you would wish this on someone who has experienced cycles of sexual abuse and battery, the pain of which you probably can't imagine, is appalling. You should be ashamed to have summoned the comparison of a rabbit's suffering with hers. How can someone even consider that? Your persistence down this lane of logic is completely inappropriate and nothing good can come of it.. why say it except to reveal something ugly about yourself?

Original article: Putting "women" in the WSJ

Substitute for a Female Mentor

It does seem like fluff compared to traditional strictly business news, but that's exactly why it's meant for women. For women who lack a female mentor or an abundance of female coworkers, the social cues that men take for granted can be few and far between, so it is business-related and necessary for their career success to be able to find out what is appropriate socially (clothes, baby photos, etc.).

taxes

The amount I had to pay in taxes already neutralized the stimulus for me. They'll just be giving it back. I'm not impressed.

Why do I have to look at a child-rapist every time I come to Broadsheet?

Is it just me or does everyone else also have to look at an HBO ad showing this kid-fucking coward every time they look at the Broadsheet page?
