I'm just pointing out that sinking the Democratic party can only work to the benefit of the Republican party. That's a fact, Glenn, and you need to face up to it.
Someone stated that we have to stop voting for conservative Democrats. But most of those conservative Democrats were elected by conservative Democrats who live in red states. We're talking about people who voted for Jim Webb of Virginia over George Allen. Remember him? The 'macaca' guy? The alternative to Jim Webb CAN'T be a more liberal Democrat--it can only be a Republican and it might be a Republican even worse than George Allen.
Someone else wondered what difference if makes if conservative Demcrats vote like Republicans. Well, it makes a hell of a difference because as Democrats they give the Democratic party the majority power in the Congress. And since the Democrats are the liberal party, that gives the majority power to the liberal party. See how that works?
This a 50/50 country. Half the country is conservative and the Senate and the House reflect that fact. Unloading conservative Democrats can only result in giving absolute power to the Republicans.
To defeat the Republicans, what we need are MORE Democrats, not fewer. We need to get a substantial majority in the Congress before this country will move to the left. And even when we do get that majority, don't expect that the Congress will then toe the line as specified by Glenn Greenwald or any other liberal blogger. Very few people in this country are paying any attention to anything said by Glenn or any other blogger. This country is far bigger than Glenn or the blogs.
...is that Glenn thinks you have to change the politicians to create change. Maybe by intimidating them, or by cajoling them, or by threatening to leave the party. The basic conception is that the politicians are the grown ups and we're just some kids who can only throw tantrums.
My belief is that you have to change the voters, not the politicians. You have to change the voters by talking to them and convincing them that you're right. And if you want to talk to voters, you have to understand what they think, and you can only do that by talking and listening to them. And that's what Glenn just doesn't want to do. He just wants to believe that his little blog is the whole world or at least some mighty force in it. But it isn't.
He cites some stupid polls and thinks liberals should win everything. But he's never talked to real voters if he believes that. He should talk to real voters in Virginia if he thinks that Jim Webb doesn't understand how his voters think.
If the universe's expansion (i.e, the expansion of space-time) is accelerating and the speed of light really is a constant, then there's a theoretical limit to what we can see of the cosmos, because there'd be a sphere around us outside of which the universe expands faster than light can reach us. No?
Correct. Also since the universe was concentrated at the beginning into one point, the orginal center of the universe is now everywhere.
What? I got it after thinking about it, but it's way too hard to parse.
...but Hillary Clinton is certainly more than just a woman and Barack Obama is certainly more than just a black man.
Edwards' problem isn't that he's a white man, it's that he's facing a couple of formidable candidates.
...and the rest of that post is bullshit as well. If Governor Granholm can win two terms here, then Hillary can do even better.
There's nothing 'polarizing' about Hillary. That's just a stupid Republican smear line, an invented media caricature. There was never any reality to it and it will vanish in the campaign. It's just a cartoon, folks.
Since the Clinton years, the country has been basically split 50/50 between the Democrats and the Republicans. And the Democrats have been growing in this time, so they may well get over 50 percent. Hillary will get her 50 percent and she will have--and she will take--every opportunity to get more, particularly as Bush's war drags on without resolution. She's no John Kerry, because she's a buttload smarter than John Kerry ever was.
Whoever wins the nomination, there's every opportunity for a sea change in this country in 2008. The Republicans have fouled their nest in every way imaginable. The media may have to change their stripes as well. Things just can't continue as they are and that's going to be a powerful impetus for any Democratic candidate.
...that all the Republican candidates are Hillarymeat.
And Huckabee will make heap good eatin'.
From today's AP wire:
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney's 14-hour campaign days begin at 7 a.m.; to save time, he carries a gallon Ziploc bag of granola -- made by his wife, Ann -- to double as breakfast and snacks.
They're richer than hell, and trying to take on the biggest and most historic job in the world, but she's still making the granola. This is downright offensive when you think about it.
What are YOU thinking, Joan? Do you really want to slam Hillary as the Republican's favorite candidate?
The White House in fact reacting as they should--they are not going to let Hillary's charges go unanswered. They are making sure their side of the story gets out.
Would that the Democrats would learn to do the same. Kerry might be president today if only he had quickly answered the charges against him. The same thing could be said of Al Gore.
..that the photographer is really doing what they claim he's doing. He might just be behind her and picking up his camera--which appears to be pointing at the back of her knees in any case.
Real pervs drag around their cameras in trolley totes for this purpose.
Nothing beats real life observations.
They are pure American sitcom; specifically:
Bush: George Costanza
Cheney: Jerry Seinfeld
Rumsfeld: Kramer
Rice: Elaine Benes
Rove: Newman
