I was wrong

McVeigh DID tell Vidal that he commited the bombing. But Vidal didn't believe him, not 100 percent:

http://www.geocities.com/gorevidal3000/tim.htm

In any case, McVeigh pled not guilty at his trial and did not admit to anything at either his sentencing or his execution. He did not admit to anyone else's involvement nor did he clarify what actually happened.

His admissions sound to me more like self serving justifications than statements of truth.

As far as Oswald, I still say there's nothing inconsistent in someone killing the president for attention and then denying it once he was captured. Denying it would be a way of doubling the attention, if he could get some people to believe in his innocence.

Ten dull white guys on a ride to nowhere

All seemed pretty tired. McCain looks sick.

You'd think there'd be at least three or four Republican women in the race. They're the ones with the balls anymore.

Ten Little Losers

...they really think Al Qaeda isn't laughing at them as they whine about the Democrats while they refuse to call for a draft or volunteers for the war?

McCain is willing to say he will follow bin Laden to the 'gates of hell,' but somehow he isn't willing to call for a draft, or for sacrifice, or for a reversal of the tax breaks for the wealthy.

What do these punks think war is, anyhow? As far as I can tell, they think war is when everybody claps their hands to make Tinkerbell come back. But war isn't Tinkerbell.

Answer to dumb question:

They just had an election and picked two people to be in the final runoff.

No, there are no dumb questions, but for God's sake, there IS Google.

$500+ poorer?

Anonymous who lives in France thinks that Americans can go to ER, see some specialists, and might come out about $500 poorer.

Your figures need to be updated. I cut my finger, needed three sitches from the ER, and it cost me $1,100.00.

Why do Republicans

...want to abuse our troops?

Contrary to oft spewed libertarian piggie nonsense, our troops did not volunteer to die or get wounded or get redeployed indefinitely. They volunteered to serve, protect and defend our country.

Since WE are the country, we owe it to them to not abuse their service. Sending our troops to invade other countries without adequate prior justification is abuse. Leaving them there to struggle without clear plans or adequate numbers is abuse. Redeploying our troops without calling for a draft or a massive volunteer effort to replace their numbers is abuse. Republicans have done NOTHING in the past six yearts but abuse the troops.

The end result can only be that we won't have a military. Nobody is going to volunteer for this crap, if volunteering for service only means in the libertarian parlance, "HAH HAH you signed your life away, loser!" This just simply can't continue.

If Hitchens gets religion tomorrow

...I, for one, will not be surprised. In fact, I will surprised if he doesn't.

He's just that kind of guy.

Tuesday, May 8, 2007 03:55 PM

But hold on a minute there, nerd...

...just what makes you think Hitchens might get religion tomorrow?

Because when a guy who once called Henry Kissinger a war criminal now supports a war that dwarfs anything Henry Kissinger ever did, then you have to wonder what he's going to do next after he supports atheism. Is he really for atheism or is he planning to make his eventual switch even more startling?

(Yes, I'm talking to myself, but what the hell.)

Who manufactured Obama?

IMO he's a self made man. "Authenticity" is highly overrated anyhow. Have we forgotten that 'authenticity' was supposed to be what the current president had over Al Gore?

Newsweek this week:

....wants a new Harry Truman.

As if being Harry Truman guarantees being a good president. But the real Harry Truman had one great advantage over all would-be following Harry Trumans: Harry Truman didn't think he was Harry Truman. Harry Truman had no idea he was the great Harry Truman: Harry Truman was just trying to make the best decisions he could, based on the best information he could get.

Bush, goddamn his soul, thinks he's the great Harry Truman. He thinks he's Abraham Lincoln. He thinks he's Winston Churchill. He thinks he's connected to God Almighty Himself. But in fact Bush is just another dumbshit hipster who thinks he can be a Beatle just by growing his hair long and making with granny glasses and shaking his head as if he were a cute moptop. But Bush isn't Johnny Lennon. He can't write great songs. He can't write ANY songs. He can't sing and he has zero charm.

It doesn't work to look like a Beatle, if you don't have any talent and refuse to get any and don't even think you need any. And it doesn't work to think you're the great Harry Truman, if you won't work and sweat and worry at being president and try to make the best decisions you can, based on the best information you can get.

It's all very well to 'march to a different drummer.' But unless your different drummer is actually as good as Ringo, the results are not likely to be what you expect. I don't know if Garrison is right about Obama, but he's right that following the rebellious hipster trail isn't working out so well.

Why anyone wants talking food

....is beyond me.

Dialog from Mrs Butterworth commerical:

Young Girl Mrs. Butterworth.

Mrs. Butterworth Yes?

Young Girl How come this tastes so good?

Mrs. Butterworth Well, my syrup is very thick and rich

Young Girl Thick and rich?

That just sounds dirty.

More dialog:

Mrs. Butterworth Just watch. See how the leading syrup just runs over this stack while Mrs. Butterworth takes her own sweet time. Now my syrup has got to be thick to pour this slow. Truth is Mrs. Butterworth is twice as thick as the other syrup. Thick and Rich and...

Young Girl Mmmm...Mrs. Butterworth, I Loooovvve you

Mrs. Butterworth Oh!
