In the world of non unioinized employees, a person may be fired for any reason or no reason whatsoever. This is one of the hidden thoughts people make when thinking a "corporate success story" runs for office. He will clear out the dead weight by firing all those incompetents because he can. The reality is people are fired for not kissing butt, acting on their own, or just in the way of some friend or lover who wants their position.

Alberto Gonzalez is guilty of bieng the messenger to higher ups who had their own agenda. He is an errand boy. Not the type we would want to have as AG and obviously not willing to understand his position is an independant one. But then, he is young and must think about his future and family after 08. If he acts independently he can't rely on the Dems and if he is to be hired or be a prof at some school, say like whatever extortion was used to get Doug Fieth a position at Georgetown, he'd better tow the line.

I wish the lesson to be learned was to stike a silver stake into the idea that a corporate success story would be a political savior. These people are criminals and flim flam men and to put them in positions of power is to open our wallets and purses, pull down our pants or rise up our dresses and say "Give it to me. Give it to me hard."

Once long ago our forefathers created a system to hold our federal government in check and bent over backward to ensure a free press to catch us when we couldn't believe we had political power.

Lets just hope we live up to so much hope and belief.

Is there any person who would address and not embrace Dick Cheney's idea of total war? Is there any journalist who would address and question whether total war has to be? I guess not. I don't know what pc school these so called PC rightwing or left wing people came from, but where I grew up "tar baby" referred to a sticky situation that had nothing to do with blacks. Maybe it did derive from a racist story, but given that O'l brer rabbit should definitely be lynched. It's an effing folk tale designed to convey a message to all people regardless of color. Unless you have coroborating evidence that McCain is a racist this is not worth your reprinting.

BTW. When I was a student in college in Houston I used to spend breakfasts at four a.m. eating at Sambos. I suspect they poured Aunt Jemima syrup into the containers for our pancakes. Good god the idea that African Americans might have represented caring, intelligence and smarts, and good cooking should never be allowed to reach the American public. It is so much better that they are only known as angry violent potential terrorists who drive cadillacs, rap about raping our white daughter ho's and demanding a payoff for their ancestors. The last thing we want to learn is they actually had a culture, a sense of mores, and cared enough about society to pass on those mores.
