Guys, go get a room.
Honest to goddess. The value of this site is some serious discussion about the issues raised by each article. You two are like those worms who wiggle their way into a conversation at a party and quickly turn the conversation to yourselves and then slobber all over yourselves as we are forced to look on in disgust.
It goes something like this: "Oh the war is not going well, well I was once a soldier and suffered from effects of war. Oh you cannot imagine how much it hurt to see babies on fire." Followed by, "Oh you too served in the Boer War. Oh the horro the horror." Then comes the time when you two compare upbringing "I was born in a box under the lake where my father would beat me each morning before breakfast. But kids today have it so good."
Followed by Sugerman: "And then they spit on me when I returned home, and that was after I was beaten after getting up each morning to clean the bottom of the lake."
Then the two of you devolve into how your lives are more important than whatever topic was discussed but you long ago forgot about.
In a party the rest of us could move away as you two sought out an empty bedroom. Here, we have to wade through you self masturbation to try to find what once was the reason we came here for, honest comment.
Look, if you are here to engage in honest and reasoned discussion about real issues than do so. You can be supportive, critical, satirical or even venal, but at least lets talk about the topic at hand.
If, on the other hand you are hear to whack your wanger or hang out your laundry, try NewtGingrichwantstofuckyouover.com.
Get a room and let the rest of us talk about the issues not about eachother.
These guys are just volunteers. Never mind if they were paraplegics they volunteered to rape other countries so we could drive our Hummers. They are volunteers. We who write here are, like bit, are not so stupid, so if some 'volunteer' has to use irons to push his limbless body back to Iraq it is all his her fault!
What bit doesn't realize of course is the big picture; that if these people really are being reevaluated and sent back to Iraq then our Army has a serious problem and we are scraping the bottom of the barrel looking for troops in a sideshow when a real war against say Iran, China or Russia would ruin us. But never mind that. USA!USA!USA! Obviously people who volunteered for combat unless us gifted people, deserve to be pushed back into combat. And when they can't lift a weapon there is always the Hitler Youth, their children and the old men and women to defend our shores while Cheney contemplates his cyanide in his secret bunker.
Seig USA!
Mein Fuhrer! I can walk!
Let's put this to rest. Slow bleed was the term coined by editor Tom Harris of Politico.com to describe a Democratic proposal to restrict future funding for the Iraq war. You can find his explanation here:
www.politico.com/news/stories/0207/2934.html
Obviously, yet ironically, it has been wrongly attributed to the Dems and especially Murtha to charactize their lack of "support for the troops" as slowly bleeding them literally. Yet, in that context, with almost 800 soldiers killed each year so far in since the invasion with nothing to show for it, "slow bleed" is about as apt a metaphor for the Bush-Cheney "plan for victory" as one could get.
Like "truthiness" it attempts to substitute the word "active", as in "We're taking an active approach to situations in the Middle East", for "proactive", as in "We are all for taking an active approach to issues in the Middle East." The former asserts an actual decision or action. The latter merely asserts what one want's to be perceived as doing. People who use the term "proactive" are merely asserting the appearance of being something they are not or at least are not willing to actually commit to.
Maybe not totally on point, but has anyone else noticed that some of the more notable believers in God or the great intelligent designer in the sky are often the first to ascribe bad actions to the unpredictable vagaries of the universe?
"Mistakes were made"?
By whom or what?
We never know. The mistakes just happened. Like Chaos Theory.
Yes, this administration is more than happy to point out how much God plays the invisible hand in their choices, but when their choices result in bad consequences it isn't even "The devil made me do it." It's "mistakes were made," as in "things just happened without any purpose or entity."
When trolling for your votes and support, they are God's own children. When in trouble, they're friggin athiests.
