Joan Walsh, The HRC Gadfly Chronicles Part 58...
[Read the article: Will Obama's debate stumble hurt him?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Not even going to addr. JW's persistent cries of "What's all this then?" It's pointless.
But of course people like cdevlin and JW "get it"...they're part of Hillary's generation, the big doers and shakers of that ancient movement called The 60's. "Is that Freedom Rock? Well, turn it up!!"
I can kinda see why you all are mad...the G.I. Generation (the GREATEST Generation Ever!??) had more presidents in the White House than your impotent Boomer Generation has so far (e.g. Carter, Kennedy, Nixon, Reagan, Bush Sr., etc.). You get the reins for less than 16 years with Bush the 2nd. and Clinton the 1st., and look at the great job they've done. Never have I seen such accomplishments in mediocrity!
All I got to say is this...Hillary was smart to say Obama was electable in the debate...it may have sunk her SOLE reason left for staying in this race, but I think even Hillary knows now that she's going to have to make nice with Obama if she expects to even consider a bid in 2012. Pretty soon, we'll be seeing some real ass-kissing...the likes of which folks like Joan Walsh can't yet fathom...but they soon will...
Vote Obama 08...my precious

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Is dis what itz all about, moin? Eating? Fucking? Sleeping? Snorting?"

Well, I don't know if the Rev. Wright stuff was an issue or not in Mississippi...
[Read the article: Mississippi turning]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]But it apparently was for those people that voted for Hillary in WV, according to the exit pools...but then again, WV is practically the poorest, whitest, least educated state in the union, a region that hasn't voted in it's best interests for years now...so it's no surprise that an uppity negro didn't get their vote.
FYI, Mississippi is that far behind WV in the living-in-another-century dept...
I'm a little surprised that there hasn't been much coverage of the coded racism hidden underneath both Bill and Hillary's speeches in WV during the last week or so. It doesn't take a fool to see that they are obviously playing that card in a state that's whiter than a jar of mayonnaise. All I got to say is I hope the Clintons plan on eating that $20 million dollar debt they've built up...because I can't see why anyone on Obama's side would lift a finger to help them out now...I've heard this talk of bailing out the Clintons, but unless there's been a back-room deal we don't know about, any offer to help them out would seem ridiculous since they refuse to go belly-up...

Sour grapes from Roman Berry and KatyTex...
[Read the article: How will Barack Obama get to 270?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]First off...Hillary lost a nomination she was supposedly going to get BEFORE the primary began...and look at her now... everyone (including me, I'll admit it now) just assumed it was going to be Hillary vs. someone-other-than-McCain. I picked Giuliani early in the race, for example...but again a lot of us were proved wrong, and here's McCain suddenly with the nomination.
Obama has gotten thrown under the bus for Rev. Wright (which he renounced), for his "shady" Resko dealings (all I got to say is whatever, McCain and his wife have tons more baggage than Obama), all this by the likes of Hillary supporters (KatyTex), or anti-Obama racebaiting-naysers (Roman Berry), for their own various reason...And despite this, he's still on the road to getting the nomination...and probably the White House.
So what makes you so sure that your math is better than Paul Maslin, or Karl Rove's for that matter? Hell, we haven't even SEEN Obama and McCain debate yet. How can you all be so fucking sure about your math this early? Did it ever occur to you that McCain just might look like the crazy old coot in the debates that he really is?
We all have been spending the last 3 months trying to kill each other over 2 candidates that were basically the same (policy-wise)...now that the family rift will soon be settled, all eyes will be turning to McCain, and his free ride will come to an end.
As for race affecting politics...back in the late 80s, I thought Dallas was going to tear itself apart due to racial tensions between the police and the African-Am. community...then a few years later, we elected Ron Kirk as Dallas's 1st. black mayor. You folks that keep claiming this country isn't ready for a black president need to put your copy of the Turner Diaries down and realize just how far we've come in just the last 10-20 years in regards to race and politics.
