  • President McCain...

[Read the article: The numbers crunch Hillary in Texas]

Yeah, I agree with the other post about this competitive race actually hurting the Democratic Party in the long-run.

I don't by this crap any more about a competitive primary race being good for the party and the country. All it's going to do is get one half of the party all worked up and pissed off if their candidate loses...something which I'll freely admit to being guilty of, since I can't STAND the idea of Hillary getting the nomination.

I guess if I were a bigger person than most, I would just hold my nose and vote for whomever the Dem. Party winner is...but I cannot forgive Hillary and her husband for soiling this contest. And it's going to get worse in PA (although Obama doing well in IN and NC might just cancel that out, I dunno what the delegate distribution is after today). That's the ultimate issue I have with the Hillary supporters...that you are so cynical and power-hungry that you WOULD be willing to do anything to get another Clinton in the White House, even tear down another candidate who speaks of hope, not of fear.

But unfortunately, neither candidate is going to back down...so the fighting will go on...to McCain's advantage.

But I guess it won't be the end of the world if McCain gets the nomination (though it will be for anyone outside of the U.S., hawk that he is)...Dems. will still have the Senate and House, and Cousin Obama and Hillary will be in the Senate waiting to greet President McCain. Then we'll see just how bi-partisan he really is.

I'm getting tired of this election already...

  • I don't know about the "next time" bit in regards to future wars...

[Read the article: The cold price of hot blood]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

But I guess this makes me feel better about voting for a candidate that didn't like the war to begin with...which means he'll be the one most likely to get us OUT of it, before we run up our international credit into oblivion...

Ironic that so much of this war has been financed by...Middle Eastern countries...I guess the real question now is: who's the dumber? The Middle Eastern countries financing this war, or our stupid govt. playing along as if we had a never-ending bar tab to work with?

    H-h-hee said stupid...uuhhh-huh-huh-huh-huh...

  • Disenfranchisement vs. Following The Rules...

[Read the article: Networks call Texas primary for Clinton]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Before we go throwing around this disenfranchisement bit, lets get one thing straight...

ALL of the Democratic candidates signed a pledge that they would following the National DNC's lead on this issue of what state goes first...MI and FL ignored that threat, and they got what they deserve...the only folks that should be upset are the Dems. in those states whose party heads let that happen, despite warnings from DNC national. So for Hillary to start claiming those votes should count is shear bullshit, and you Hillary supporters know it...if the tables were turned and Obama was bitching about it, you would suddenly feel very differently about this issue, wouldn't you?

2ndly, everyone needs to get off of this caucus-hating shit...Hillary knew about those state rules months ago, and any idiot with some campaigning sense would have figured out how to deal with that issue. She may win the state by 3-4%, but she will lose the caucus by a much larger margin...and she'll lose it fair and square, there's no need to be moaning about it now.

Finally, this crap about Hillary being more important because she can win the big states is also a load...those are states that will (except for TX) go Democratic anyway...a goddamn yellow-dog could be running against McCain in Nov., and the yellow-dog would win those states, practically by default. You're flipping the Red State arguement on it's head, yet you're still missing the big point: Obama has appeal in Red States that Hillary will NEVER have, mostly because of who she is and because a lot of people just don't like her. Hell, I don't like her any more, because she would rather destroy the party in the process of losing the nomination...

Again, this all boils down to the winning-at-all-costs-nevermind-the-consequences attitude of the Hillary campaign. If she some how swindles the nomination, I'll gladly watch her choke on it in Nov.

  • BTW, about that caucus vote...

    For you TX Obama supporters...

At least I can report that Hillary lost to Obama in the precinct caucus I was at, here in Collin Co. TX (Obama 84%/Hillary 16%). That means 16 Obama delegates to Hillarys 3, or some such figure from the precinct judge.

Of course, in a highly Republican-voting district like mine, it doesn't translate into much in the way of delegates to the convention...but it made my evening a little better, know 84% of the room was no crazier than I was...

    "If I were a superdelegate..."

But you're not...and neither are the rest of us, if that makes you feel better

...and for all this talk about disenfranchisement by Hillary supporters, you can NOT have it both ways (superdelegates should vote their conscience and not the will of the people in their state, BUT FL and MI vote should be counted despite not following the party primary rules, etc.)

Again, it all goes back to Hillary's inconsistent message about what the rules are...ah hell, the rules don't matter, do they?
