I remember when Air America was on the air...
[Read the article: Republicans make Fox News sick]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I remember way back when Wesley Clark, having dropped out of the 2004 primary race, was speaking with Al Franken about something on Air America. When Clark said that he was promoting some book or new organization on a few different networks, and mentioned Fox by name, Al just kept interupting him, saying "General....General....Please...Could you not have found a better network to speak to than Fox? I really think you should reconsider that choice..."
Funny that Al Franken of all people knew from the beginning the one thing the Democrats could do to ruin Fox was to boycott that network for it's idealogical bent...but they didn't do it then because of Fox's perceived (and over-inflated) importance in the media. Now look at the mess they are in...
Funny how just a few years of built-up anger in the U.S. public can make a difference.
BTW, don't write off Rush altogether...while his influence has been waning very slowly for years, he's still out there with his "....Ladies and Gentleman....!" proclamations. He's kinda like Jerry Falwell: important for getting the movement started, but largely considered and after-thought in this new age of Hannity/O'Reilly. Only difference now is that he's not dead like Falwell...but that day will come eventually...
As for Fox, well...until the network folds, this is all just a bunch of wishful thinking. But then again, it took just the right-perfect harmonic convergence of voter discontent to THROW OUT the Republican majority in Congress back in 2006. With the way this economy is going, I think the groundwork is already in place for that to happen again. In 2006, it was the war...in 2008, it's the economy.
Maybe Fox's days are numbered...either way, it's not like I ever watched them anyways...

This is laughable...
[Read the article: I'm a nude dancer trying to finish my Ph.D.]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Assuming this is real (which I don't), the 1st. question is...how was this not an issue before? Is it just because of the PhD thing?
I agree with other folks out there, you already torpedoed yourself on this one (he said torpedo...uh huhuhuhuh). It's already common knowledge that you did this. Unless you can wear a catwoman mask now or some shit like that to disguise your identify, you're pretty much SOL.
But I guess the real question is: what do you plan to do with your PhD anyway? PhDs vs. MBAs, on a dollar-per-dollar basis, really aren't worth the added cost vs. the money you make. True, there are some jobs you can only have with a PhD, where an MBA won't cut it...but after being in the Corporate World for 15 years now, PhDs basically = too expensive to hire in the job market. So unless your goal was to be a college professor, is all this fussing over a PhD really worth it, when compared to that juggernaut call the Monthly Bills?
And to those folks saying that certain members of the intelligencia will never take her seriously if she does this...my reply to that would be: if that's the way they treat her, and it's that big of a privacy/personal choice issue to her, then why would she WANT to be part of that elitest-fuck world anyway? Why bother getting the PhD if it means living in snobbery?
So yeah, since this job pays the bills and YOU don't have a problem with it, why stop now? You claim you don't have any other (legal) options to choose from given your circumstances, you can't run to mommy and daddy for money...so why worry about this decision any more?

I second (or third) Jaben's post...
[Read the article: Clinton gets her party started]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"If You Folks Do Nothing Else Today, Read --Jaben's Post Here
Wow!
Both Clinton and Obama are lawyers. But the Editor of the Harvard Law Review (Obama) those 15 or so years ago is a heavyweight legislator. By contrast we see a lightweight legislator in Hillary Rodham Clinton.
My God, what a contrast!
-- Ron Smith"
The "unsettling" thing for me about Hillary (to borrow other Hillaryites) since the 1st. day she took office as senator has been this snow-job she's been laying on us about her "experience" over other candidates. She's a lightweight in the senate compared to Obama.
Since we are talking about defining moments, I'll give you mine own moment in regards to Hillary: on the day of 9/11 during a press conference on the footsteps of the Capitol Building, she just about started running for cover just as the other Congressmen/women and Senators started singing God Bless America (or some shit)...so then she slowly creeped back into the picture...and started singing along. Which kinda looked cowardly to me, at a time when we didn't need to see that in our politicians.
Okay, so you probably all think this is pretty minor or pointless as a reason for voting for Obama. And true, it's not like GWB was any less cowardly, or half of DC for that matter...but it kinda tainted my image of her, and she hasn't really recovered it since then...seeing as how she voted for the war and all...
And Christ, if somebody is going to vote for Hillary because Obama isn't saying anything about the Jews in Israel (see article), then I think my reason for voting AGAINST Hillary is certain not any less petty.
BTW, I'm VERY disappointed in Salon's fawning coverage over Hillary as opposed to Obama...Rebecca's "article" is proof of the one-sided-ness of Salon's support for Hillary. And if that keeps me from getting a neat little red star by my post, then so be it!

Looking for Salon's bias as to who they REALLY want to win?
[Read the article: Goodbye, Super Tuesday]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Just look at the image of a beaming Hillary next to a grim-faced Obama...
I rest my f'ing case. There's just no way Obama will look good on Salon, what with all of the anonymous posts supporting Hillary and all.
I hope these anon-Hillaryites eventually hit that proverbial brick wall that Ron Paul's supporters hit yesterday...then folks like me will be able to say "Where's your God now, Moses? Myah, shee.."

Again, I point to the image of Obama on Salon...
[Read the article: Team Clinton: Obama's now the establishment candidate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]And you honestly want us to think Salon isn't leaning hard in Hillary's favor?
