  • My sister is a famous designer -- and I'm not!

    Waaa....

  • Love this line...

[Read the article: I'm cheating on my husband and loving it. Is that a problem?]

"I am also a "lapper," in that I tend to start a new relationship while still in the previous one"....

Sounds like you're a "lapper" in more ways than one...eewwwww...

Actually, I think the phrase that applies here is attention-grabbing-whore instead of lapper. Again, another example of 2 equally poor judges of character: the honest-with-herself-but-not-with-her-men slut (you), and the co-dependent, completely ball-less husband that knowingly married a no-good cheat (your spouse).

And once again, I would love to hear the backstory on the LW...I'm sure abandonment issues come into play here at some point, because this kind of behavior SCREAMS daddy-figure syndrome...

The post down below about Germany passing a 7 year marriage law has got it all wrong...they should pass a law requiring people to take marriage counseling before tying the knot, or at least make the marriage commitment process a little more difficult before the court just gives the couple their marriage license...specifically to prevent destructive marriages like this from ever being created.

Thank Christ there are no children involved...

  • Bullshit, I sez...

[Read the article: Apparently I'm a bisexual mom]

This letter is utter bullshit...either the LW is a dimwit for marrying a plain-vanilla guy after years of indulgent behavior, or this has got to be one of the biggest snow-jobs I've ever read on Cary's column...this after Dan Savage spent the last 2 weeks demonstrating which letters are fake and which ones are not in his column.

This one doesn't have the hallmark signs of bullshitdom (overly lurid descriptions of specific encounters, false notions of indignation, etc.). In fact, if it is a fake, it's very well written, because the the LW genuinely sees that they have a problem.

So, I'm opting for the 1st. option...that the LW thought she could bring stability to her wild and crazy life by getting hitched. Well, you exhibit 2 personalities in this letter...if Suzie Q Squarepant is the way you were for MOST of your life, then maybe there's still hope. But if you've spent most of you adult life prior to marriage as a poster child for Girls Gone Wild, then I think we all know how this marriage is going to end...

Too bad you had to start spitting out children, it's going to make this process kinda sticky, now ain't it?

  • Since there seems to be a lack of our fans out there, I'll just say it now...

    GOOOOO COWBOYS!!!!

Yeah, odds look pretty bad that we're gonna lose...and sure, we may get a nice dash of cold water like Green Bay did last Sunday, and like we SHOULD have gotten on Monday Night Football...but I'll take our over-rated QB, Owens, Witten and our sort-of-ok running backs over the Pats or any other team any day...

All of you Cowboy haters were saying the same thing about our Boys last year when we played the Colts...and looked what happen then?

  • Proud Presby...

    [Read the article: Proud atheists]

This was a delightful interview...they only way I could have laughed harder is if the Presby one had said "I knew you were going to ask that."

  • Are you f'ing nuts?

[Read the article: Will my family drag us down?]

You just got your act together, your wife is about to complete a med school in a few years, you have a 2 year old child in the midst...and you are thinking of going back home to care for your mom and sis? While you're at it, do you plan on opening an orphanage in Kenya as well? How about joining the Peace Corp while your at it, I'm sure you can fit that into your busy schedule?

LW, unless you are sincerely trying to win the Mother Teresa Award for 2008, you are going to put yourself on the path to marital destruction. You've already acknowledged that your mother is a downer...your sister is, to put it politely, high-maintenance and on the verge of driving her own spouse out of the house...and you are willing to put your own family on the line for a couple of blood relatives who frankly haven't even asked for any help yet? Despite your understandable desire to do your family right, let come back to reality for a minute.

Your spousal unit doesn't seem to be a factor in this conversation yet...but once you do have "the talk" and you quickly find out that your idea is NOT going to fly with her, you're basically going to have to reconcile with your own needy feelings and just move on. But take heart...you can do a lot better this minute by getting settled down, building a career for both of you, and raising a healthy child (please, just keep it to one for a while). When things get really bad and your family actually begins to ASK for your help, maybe you'll be better prepared to take the journey back to Denver to care for one or both members...or better still, maybe they can come move out to wherever you happen to be. Who the hell sez YOU have to make all of the accomodations to care for them? Beggars can't be choosers, you know...

So don't listen to Cary on this one, for reasons already well documented in the letters column...it's hyper-unrealistic, and frankly requires you to make sacrifices that you shouldn't have to make for people that, again, don't seem to think they really need your help...otherwise, we'd be reading about them asking for it in your letter.

Some things are simpler than they appear...the LW appears to either want to be a saint, or just thrives on drama (who on Earth would have a child in the middle of med school?). Please don't go mucking it up even further by bring your mom or sister (or both) into the equation, it's just not going to lead to a happy end for you...TRUST ME on this...
