This is, like, TOTALLY the same as that "Daria" episode when she dumped her boyfriend...
[Read the article: I resent my fiancé because he is rich]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]But I digress...
Here's proof yet again that classism runs both ways in every society...so your fi-ance (to use the Hillbilly term) got him some money? Big deal...and it's not HIS money anyway, it's the family's money. And you marrying him might cause that to disappear in an instant, and the fact that he may not care speaks volumes about his love for you and how he feels about money...or it at least it should, but you're so hung-up on the money thing, you can't see the forest amongst the trees in front of you...
Lady, get over it...just make sure he actually loves YOU for who you are, not what you represent. Part of his attraction to you may be the fact that you DON'T come from money...if that's the case, you better have a sit-down and figure out why the hell yall are getting married, because it sounds like there's a breakdown in communication here.

They only want clean women on eHarmony...
[Read the article: Men on eHarmony seem obsessed with women who are "clean"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]And apparently no gays, no deviants, no people that are separated, etc. Isn't this the same website that rejects so many people for not being the right kind of "compatible?"
Answer is simple on this one...LW needs to go try Match.com or something a little broader in scope...

Word to the wise, from the recruiting world...
[Read the article: I'm working for a cokehead at a free arts magazine]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]NEVER accept a counter offer. This isn't just some verbal ploy to get you hired, it's practically a law of the business world, especially in highly-competitive fields.
Look, if you are searching for a job because you are undervalued and underpaid, then obviously you're not happy about something at your current job...something that probably isn't going to change, despite constant requests by you (if you have the courage to bring up such issues, which you definitely should). So, if you get an offer, then you let your company know that you are leaving....THEN they make a bunch of promises to you, written or otherwise, they are doing that for one reason only: out of THEIR own self-interest, not yours.
Taking a counter offer basically tells the employer that you don't mind being their slave, for the right price...also, by trying to leave that place of work, you've already indicated that you don't like working there...so if the company decides to have a layoff, guess who's probably the 1st. in line to get axed? Ta-da, that's YOU!!!
And there's no need to give 2 weeks notice, especially if you are in a right-to-work or at-will state, or have a non-union job...you owe your employer nothing, because legally, they also owe nothing to you when they decide to fire/lay you off in at-will states. 2 weeks is common courtesy, but again, this is all about YOU, not your soon-to-be former employer.
So listen up, all you college students out there, who think you'll know better when this happens to you the first time...don't EVER except a counter offer from your current employer, even if they put it in writing. This is something you'll learn after many years of working in the business world, because counter-offers are just a temporary fix to a long-term problem that you can't solve.
LW, you have every right to be angry with yourself...but the lesson learned here is that you need to always look out for yourself, not your company (unless you own part of it, that's kinda different).

I agree with Cary, but he COMPLETELY missed the the mark one aspect...
[Read the article: My Christian daughter says I'm going to hell]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Don't take her to her own church...take her to a Unitarian church instead...then she'll see that there are others like the LW that think rationally about religion...that yes, Virginia, there is a god, but there's more than one to choose from...that god doesn't have to be a fire-wielding deity condemning all but the chosen few to the infernal regions of Hell....
Doesn't matter that the LW despises religion...hell, he doesn't have to go to a Unitarian church to make this point, he could just as well go to a synagogue or Buddist temple. That's the only thing wrong with the LW...that he's not using this valuable Sunday "worship" time to broaden his child's mind a little more...so that when she turns 18, SHE can decide wherein her path to enlightenment and salvation lies...
And as a bonus, LW, if you are looking for the ultimate F.U. to give your ex, this is the only way that can happen...because just as you can't keep her from going to church when she's with your ex, the same applies to your ex and whatever opposition she may have...Really, this is a no-lose situation...because by showing your child that other folks believe in other things, you'll basically be planting the seeds for her to become the truely independent-thinking women you probably want to see her become...wouldn't that be a hoot?
Finally, don't get the courts involved in this, as others have suggested...they frankly don't care anyway, their main concern is the child's physical safety and well-being...after that, matters pertaining to religion are areas they REALLY don't want to screw around with...

What balls...
[Read the article: James Dobson's Rudy problem]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]To think that Giuliani might actually win the nomination...but I think it's safe to say he won't, Dr. Dobson or not...he's just not like the rest of his party base, not enough to get the win.
Here's what I predict...Mitt vs. Hillary, and then the REAL question will be whether or not evangelicals are willing enough to compromise on their religious attitudes in regards to Mormons, just to put one of their "own" back in the White House...that's the real question Dr. Dobson and his flock will have to figure out...
Either way, it's a no-win situation for the Republicans...I think people are more afraid of Mormons than they are of Hillary...at least we can look back on the Clinton Years and say "Gee, things seemed a lot more simple back then." It's basically her election to loose.
Of course, I said this country wouldn't vote for a President AND Vice President with DUIs, and look what we've had for the last 8 years...
