Tnx. for hitting this on the head...
[Read the article: Katie Roiphe's morning after]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"This is barely in a language I understand
It seems tortured and dense for the thrill of being tortured and dense. Which is my personal complaint of at least some versions of modern feminism: that it seems to celebrate the sheer statistical complexity of it all, the quaternary mixed partial differential equations that are feminine identity and sexuality. Heaping piles of obtuse fog and brownian movement in order to champion something one can claim is so difficult to understand it borders on cult.

You know what, tnx. for hitting this one on the head...I was reading the article, but gave up before the end of the 1st. page because even the writer is losing me in psycho-babble about feminism and equality of the sexes.
I'm so lucky to have a strong-willed woman that wants to be treated like one of the guys...and often does, to the resentment of her female co-workers. She's still very much a woman in the "traditional" sense, but when it comes to business, she thinks and acts like the rest of us guys...and I'm firmly convinced that's why she's accomplished so much in life. In fact, she prefers working with men, because they don't worry about getting their feelings hurt when
That's not to suggest on my part that the solution for equality in the workplace is to ask women to act more like men ...this is just an observation from what I've seen over the years, take from it what you will.
Nevertheless, she doesn't consider herself a feminist (in the "traditional" bra-burning sense, either). Although I would consider her a feminist in a certain sense, she won't stand for being called that. I guess that's the whole tragedy of that movement...it had it's purpose 30 years ago, but women nowadays just don't see the world that way any more. And frankly most men don't see the world the way it used to be 30 years ago either. Sure, there are still some sexist pigs out there that don't want women doing anything other than serving coffee and answering the phone at work...but the days of seeing bosses like that Dabney Coleman in "9 to 5" are effectively gone.
Anyway, all this college-level discourse is just poppy-cock. Doesn't really mean much to the rest of us in the real world.

Sorry...

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Forgot to finish this thought -
"because they don't worry about getting their feelings hurt when" something went wrong, or a (male) boss tells it like it is.

On behalf of Dan Savage fans, I say unto thee...
[Read the article: My wife was having an emotional affair for years behind my back]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]DTMFA
Look, you BOTH have poor track records (3 divorces for her vs. your 2). BOTH of you apparently don't know how to either have an honest, monogamous relationship (her) or pick a partner capable of being honest and monogamous (YOU). How you have been able to raise a child this long without both of you driving her insane is beyond me. In fact, I would love to hear your other grown children's take on all of this. Better still, a little background on the LW's childhood, as well as his spouse's, would be very interesting info. to know. There has to be some kind of parental separation or trauma in the past that has allowed her to be a slut and you to be her doormat.
No matter. This lady is porkin' other guys, LW...plain and simple. Guys aren't into "emotional affairs," that story is just some lie she cooked up. I f'ing laughed my ass off when I read that...but I wouldn't expect anything less from a lawyer, well-versed in double-speak. And you're dumb enough to fall for this, hook, line, and sinker.
Take the advice about finding a good divorce lawyer...if things are okay at home, wait another 4 years until the daughter has left home...but if it's worse than it sound right now, think about getting all of the ammunition you can get and prepare for a divorce (your 3rd., her 4th.).

Scratch that...
