To parody our What Would Jesus Do (WWJD) neighbors...

What Would Tony Soprano Say (WWTSS)?

In an episode after Tony is recovering from getting shot by Junior, some religious people pray for him, and he starts to kinda see their point about the Afterlife...but then, they come to visit him while Tony's reading a picture book about dinosaurs, something he wants to give to another child. The religious "minister" guy comments that the dinosaur myth is just that...that dinosaurs were created in the Garden, just as Adam and Eve.

Tony retorts "So your basically saying humans were walking the earth the same time as the dinosaurs? Like on the Flintstones?"

My colleague (another Soprano junkie-cohort) and I have been saying all along that the only way out for Tony without getting whacked is to rat out the entire mob and go into witness protection. David Chase has been laying the ground work for the entire season, with the way that FBI agent has be lurking around Satrialis...I don't think he's keep Tony alive to prosecute, I think he's looking to fry bigger fish (to use the small-fry analogy about the NJ family)...specifically Phil Leo-retardo...

I don't know if there's a rat in Leotardo's gang or not, but the SOB has it coming. Tony can probably sing a pretty song and dance about Phil to the FBI, so I can't see him making peace with Tony...because he knows Tony can be a big-time informant on the whole family. Phil is the aggressor here, so he's the one with EVERYTHING to lose if he doesn't get Tony and his gang out of the picture.

Well...regardless of what happens, I just want Jersey to win over NY for a change...

  • Ohhhhh BARF!!!

[Read the article: It has been 10 months and he still won't say "I love you"]

As soon as I read the first sentence, I knew the answer to this one already.

Lady, you need to grow a pair (metaphorically speaking). You tipped your hand way to early in this relationship, and by doing so, you basically pa-looted what simmering emotional chemistry you had in your relationship. The minute you dropped that line and he didn't return the favor meant that you need to just forget that line of questioning and enjoy the moment, for what it's worth. Just because your happy-go-lucky family drops "I rove roo" all the damn time doesn't mean everyone else's family does that. Shit, I'll be lucky to hear my father say that on his deathbed...some folks just don't say that phrase very often, if at all...

Also, who out here wants to bet this is the first serious relationship the LW has had? I'll wager money on it, because I've seen this exact sort of behavior many times before, personally and with other friends I know.

And you posters out there blaming this on the LW's ticking biological clock...shame on you for sterotyping the LW's emotions. None of this has to do with biology....it has everything to do with communication (or lack thereof) and immaturity.

Serious, LW, just try to enjoy your time with him as much as you can. You are way too young to be burdening others with your emotional needs like that...if you all separate due to college/career/whatever, and he still keeps in touch with you AND gets slightly jealous when you discuss dating other men...then you'll have the answer you are looking for.

  • Article sucks...

[Read the article: Why is "Sgt. Pepper" so overhyped?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Everytime I read an article like this, I think of this line:

"....Cause we're the greatest ROCK-band in the world..." From Lars (of Metallica) in some kind of parody cartoon

How can you down an album with "It's Getting Better All The Time" and "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"...which, incidentally, is NOT about LSD guys, the song was written based on some drawing his Julian Lennon had done. But that's the whole point of the album...it isn't suppose to be some rock-opera production or whatever, just a collection of songs about MANY different things, under the Sgt. Pepper banner.

And if you want to talk about groundbreaking 60's albums, my understanding is that this came out BEFORE Jimi's "Electric Ladyland" and Floyd's "Dark Side of The Moon," and a whole bunch of other "storyline" albums.

So, who's the greatest ROCK-band of them all now, eh?

"....Cause we're the greatest ROCK-band in the world..." Lars (from Metallica) in some kind of parody cartoon

  • I'm not buying into any of this "baby steps" arguement any longer...

[Read the article: Sex and the married Muslim]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

So far, this has been what I've seen in regards to this so-called progressive trend in the Muslim world...

Islamic feminism = appeasement to a male-chauvinstic culture

Why don't we just go ahead and profile a religious talk show from the Arabian Peninsula that condones beating your wife and kids while we're at it...Nice try Salon, but NO CIGAR on this one.

"But let's not waste too much gas treading and retreading our cultural conflicts."

I agree, but you're not going far enough...lets just IGNORE the entire Middle East. The only reason we even give 2 shits about that part of the world is because of the oil...if there weren't any oil there, then this article would be just as meaningless as one written about sex advice columnists in Siberia...

Anyway, I'm fed up to here (visualize: hand is over my head at this point) with this well-at-least-they-are-taking-baby-steps bullshit. I've been hearing this from folks trying to apologize for their regressive culture for years now, and I'm just not going to stand by and listen to it any longer without raising my voice about it...

So, go ahead and burn the reply posts back...I don't care any more, because people in the Western world need to wise up.

Stop worry about the Mexicans so much and worry a little more about where that gasoline at the pump comes from...and what the "hidden" costs are for buying more and more of it each day.
