and what did Jimi think?

Hendrix was so impressed when he heard SPLHCB he performed his own version of the opening song the week after the album debuted. Paul McCartney was in the audience in the London club when Jimi played his version. That is why Paul recommended that Jimi be included in the Monterey Jazz and Pop Festival the last week of June 1967. Hendrix soon became a ledgend in the states after being "discovered" in the UK! How I love rocklore!

a healthy attitude toward nudity

Americans are much too uptight about nudity. For Salon readers who are interested in learning about a healthy and well adjusted view of non-sexual nudity visit The Naturist Society web site.

I'm surprised...

...to see that so many Salon readers are conformists.

How ordinary :-(

Original article: Ask the pilot

I learned something tonight!

So an RJ FO doesn't need an ATP. I never knew.

15 years ago I considered a career in the airlines, but I discovered my color vision would probably disqualify me. Although, my color vision was good enough to obtain a SODA and permit me to obtain a commercial ticket if desired. I never progressed beyond a private ticket w/instrument rating (600+ hours after 20 years). Now I learn a commercial ticket would have been enough to fly an RJ. Oh well, doesn't now and didn't then, pay well enough.

Everyone else please excuse us pilot nerds for the (alpha) abreviations.

Maybe you would enjoy skydiving

Skydiving is a thrilling sport that includes a fair amount of camaraderie. By the time you earn your "A" license (in about 3 to 4 months) you will have probably made some new like-minded friends at the drop zone.

The 'Floyd boys had something to say about this.

Hello,

Is there anybody in there

Just nod if you can hear me

Is there anyone home?

Come on, now

I hear you're feeling down

I can ease your pain

Get you on your feet again

Relax

I'll need some information first

Just the basic facts

Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain, you are receding

A distant ship's smoke on the horizon

You are only coming through in waves

Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying

When I was a child I had a fever

My hands felt just like two balloons

Now I've got that feeling once again

I can't explain, you would not understand

This is not how I am

I have become comfortably numb

O.K.

Just a little pin prick

There'll be no more aaaaaaaah!

But you may feel a little sick

Can you stand up?

I do believe it's working, good

That'll keep you going through the show

Come on it's time to go.

There is no pain, you are receding

A distant ship's smoke on the horizon

You are only coming through in waves

Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying

When I was a child

I caught a fleeting glimpse

Out of the corner of my eye

I turned to look, but it was gone

I cannot put my finger on it now

The child is grown

The dream is gone

I have become comfortably numb.

Let's Do The Math

Okay boys and girls let's get the facts straight.

The baby boom generation is officially from the years 1946 through 1964. I hate to break it to all you Gen Xers but Barack Obama is a member of the baby boom generation as he was born August 4th 1961.

Oh yes, Watergate happen as a result of the '72 Presidential election. And Electric Light Orchestra began as a 70s band.

This reminds me of a movie.

WILD HOGS...really funny movie about the culture clash between "weekend" bikers and "outlaw" bikers. It was a good satirical send-up of both sides of the biker world.

So lighten up everyone!

@elephantman

"The short-term misery experienced the Superdome refugees, who for their own reasons had not evacuated the city as the President had advised, is unfortunate."

These empoverished citizens DID NOT HAVE THEIR OWN TRANSPORTATION! They were advised by city officials to go to the Superdome to await evacuation. Bush did not advise anyone to do anything!

All Bush and company (and elephantman) had to do was watch CNN for the lastest info on what was happening and they couldn't even keep up with CNN. Talk about living inside a bubble!

@elephantman

Blanco decided not to run for a second term. I can't really blame her for being fed up with government. The New Orleans major was re-elected. Jindal has been in office less than six months. Legislators are already complaining he does not make himself available enough. He's has spent all together too much time "flirting" with John McCain and on the Jay Leno Tonight Show.

When hurricanes threaten a state it's the state's governor that issues the evacuation orders not the President.

Louisiana 9/11 connection

Ironically, immediately after the 9/11 attacks Bush high-tailed it out of Sarasota FL to Barksdale Airforce Base Louisisana across the Red River from my hometown of Shreveport where he made his first public statements.
