Original article: Women are the new men on TV

Most men are smart enough to figure it out...

It's sad that they can't make shows where men behave like normal people whether or not they make more or less money than a woman. A lot of guys spend time with their kids without losing an inch of their self esteem, rather the opposite. Stupid tv-people create fake problems. There are, of course, some men who have very low self esteem and need to feel superior to women. They might not be very successfull in the long run. Who want's to spend time with something like that?

Put the blame where it belongs

Seriously, this is a question of work organization! The employer must take into consideration that working parents might have to skip late night working, or take care of sick kids. Then it is just stupid to put them in a position where everything falls apart if something happens in the family. Do most employers have a view of the "ideal worker" as a man with a stay-at-home wife who does all of the family work? No wonder then that they are such poor planners. Don't blame the working parents or those who have no kids, blame the employers.

Get real

Come on; not even mature adults are always using contraceptives right in the heat of the moment. Also a lot of youngsters are not well informed of the proper use of it, they forget to take their pill, or the condom gets torn by rough handling etc. Young people will have sex, and the age of consent is way to high. A more realistic approach to teenage sexuality would propably prevent teenagers from becoming parents, as it has in the Nordic countries. To differ between "clean" and "unclean" girls (where clean means they don't get caught) is not becoming of a democratic society.

Fay Weldon is British

I'm sure this is true in England. They are some 30 years behind regarding emancipation. She should come to Scandinavia, maybe that would change her views a bit.

Sure there is sexism here too, but you could hardly call it a patriarchal hegemony. Actually the traditional male is having a hard time these days. Few women are interested in men who won't do their bit of chores or take care of their children.

No good will come from insisting on the differences between men and women. We all would do better without old clichees.

It's sexist!

I am aggrevated! I just watched the 100 m sprint in the Olympics and the camera cropped the runners by their waist! The most enjoyable part of this competition is to see extremely fit men in really tight suits running towards you in slow motion. And then we want to see all of them.

I have no idea why men find seminude women interesting to watch, but I guess that remains one of the great mysteries of the world.
