If the "regulated bankers" had been more flexible with their underwriting guidelines then not as many people would have been at the mercy of predatory lenders, although many of them were talked into these loans buy bokers & realtors saying "well you can just refi or sell in two years when this loan adjusts."
Why does everyone assume that the Democrats would win the election if we would do away with Electoral College? A lot of people don’t vote because they can’t be bothered not because they are stopped by some evil republican force. Also I wouldn’t want the federal government in charge of all the elections that is way too much power concentrated in one place. The states may be inept but at least their power is diffused
Well our new governor has certainly been busy; supporting property tax relief so that everyone's tax bill will go up not just the Real estate flippers and now he is in favor of offshore oil drilling. Brillant, now we can destroy our beaches and oceans-- the tourist and real estate industy's lifeblood-- to possibly, for the short term, save a few dollars at the pump. What about conservatism = conservationism? There is nothing logical about politics.

Not all Americans want offshore oil drilling--who sponsored that poll?
All we have to do is cut consumption and come up with a coherent energy policy and that will reduce the price much more quickly than increased offshore drilling.
