That's Showing Them, Georgie

There's a saying that goes along the lines of "It doesn't matter if you're hung as a sheep or a goat". I see that George opted for chicken.

By The Way ...

I Should have added that I still expect to see a Christmas '08 or Inauguration Day morning pardon. I'm sure that Scooter's pals will pass the hat for the fine. Scooter will get a nice little partnership in some right-wing law firm, or a seat at the Heritage Foundation.

Just consider it a little somethin' from the Boys for taking one for the team.

A Question

As RealName pointed out, Scooter's license to practice law has been suspended in two states and is swirling 'round the bowl in DC. Here's my question; if Junior pardons the felonious SOB, does he get his licenses to practice law back?

What A Crock

Tony Snow actually said in reference to the Juvenile Delinquent occupying the Oval Office the he's a person who

"believes pardons and commutations should reflect a genuine determination to strengthen the rule of law and increase public faith in government."

It's official: reality and farce at the White House are now one and the same, completely indistinguishable.

Original article: "You can car pool"

Be Carefult What You Say, Be Careful What You Do

"...we give thanks for all the brave citizen-soldiers of our Continental Army who dropped pitchforks and took up muskets to fight for our freedom and liberty and independence."

I believe that using current standards, these brave citizen-soldiers would now be declared to be "illegal combatants" and shipped of to Gitmo.

You're right EM, Junior doesn't want to go there.

Get Out The Cuffs

Due to the "preordained futility of any White House compliance with this demand." Congress shouldn't bother to ask. It's time for the Sergeant-At-Arms to do his thing and force their appearance. Congress should not bother with the court route, that's just part of the Administration's plan to draw things beyond January of 2009.

If Junior and Darth don't like it let them be the one's to toss it to the Judicial branch.

This Is Gonna Be Interesting

I'll hold off on any comment on Ms Taylor's courage until I hear what she has to say, as she could always be an Administration stalking horse. Do I think that they'd send in a ringer who would lie to Congress? Heaven forfend, goodness golly no!

I do prefer to think though, that she's on the up & up, so I'd advise her to stay out of dark parking garages and not to fly on any small airplanes. It will also be interesting to see how fast Fielding scuttles to the nearest tame judge to get a restraining order.

Ingrates

I should think that the troops would be glad to give up their mental and physical health and sacrifice their family's well-being in order to help secure our Leader's glorious legacy. They should follow the sterling example set by the offspring of the Republican leadership and the right-wing chattering class.

What's that you say? They're not? Oh, in that case never mind.

Original article: Quote of the Day

As Usual, Bill's Got It Backwards

"No, there's no [debate] -- again, ultimately, the president wants to withdraw troops based on the facts on the ground, not on the matter of politics."

I think what Tony really wanted to say was that Junior only starts wars based on politics, regardless of the facts on the ground.

Move Along, There's Nothing To See Here

Keeeee-rist Almighty, what a choice - is our Attorney General felonious, or merely utterly incompetent.

C'mon guys, this is really a dog-bites-man story. Wake me up when two miracles occur:

1. Fredo actually remembers something

2. He tells the truth about it

I expect to read about hell freezing over before either happens.

Original article: Whisky business

@ L*F*A

The correct spelling of a whiskey made from molasses is: R-U-M.

The product may taste exceptionally good, I never tried it so I don't know. But it ain't any variety of whisky, no matter how you spell it.

I Agree, There Are Important Constitutional Issues At Stake ...

Like what is the Administration doing using a private, non-governmental entity's network for government business? Also, once those documents have been disclosed to a non-governmental entity, how can they be protected by executive privilege?

Is Junior declaring the RNC to be an arm of the Executive branch of government? It has obviously been acting that way (or have I got it wrong-way around?).

Corporate Health vs. Children's Health

"The proposal would dramatically expand the Children's Health Insurance Program, adding nonpoor children to the program, and more than [double] the level of spending ... This will have the effect of encouraging many to drop private coverage, to go on the government-subsidized program."

You know, from my point of view that's one of the best reasons to expand the program. At least 30% of the money those parents give to their insurance companies gets siphoned off for corporate overhead.

These parents are just on the edge of ability to pay and I'm sure that they could make better use of that money than buying the CEO of their insurance company a bigger boat. Even if those parents would be described as "struggling" or "working poor" rather than "non-poor". Let's be clear that poverty exists well above the official poverty line.

But then, as has been made more than amply clear in the past, for this band of corporatist thugs, corporate health far outweighs children's health.

Stevio

I know that you were being tongue-in-cheek, but I'd be OK with outsourcing my healthcare to a place like France where it's better and costs less. Right now, the attempts to patch together a mixed private/public system manage to give us the worst of both worlds - the most expensive and least effective healthcare in the industrialized world.

Original article: Senate sleepover

And What A Lesson It Was, Too

"Instead, Americans got an object lesson on why Democrats have failed to accomplish any of their goals over the last seven months. ... "

Yeah Mitch, we did indeed get an object lesson, and the Republicans didn't come out looking very good. You've shown us that you and the rest the Bushite dead-enders couldn't possibly care less how may people get killed or maimed, as long as Junior gets his was and doesn't have to face reality and the consequences of his actions.

Sorry Stevio ...

but Darth has declared that Junior isn't allowed to leave office until he gets his pardon, Constitution be damned.
