What's the Difference?
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Not long ago, it was routine to whisper about which movie stars had undergone cosmetic surgery. First it was kept completely secret, then it was simply taboo. Now it's accepted.
What is the difference? Our society has grown to accept physical enhancements in our media stars. Why not its athletes? It's bigger, better, more exciting. And if somebody flames out, there is a long line instant replacements. Steroids is now a non-story.
(I'm not saying this is good. I'm just the bearer of bad news.)

How about just "Fewer Dumb Teachers"
[Read the article: More drunken pirates, fewer teachers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This is pretty fundamental. Don't post dumb stuff to your MySpace page if you want to be entrusted with teaching our youth. I'm a 29 year-old male who has done my fair share of partying over the last 12 years, but I wouldn't post pictures of it on the internet.
This is bad judgement for a 14 year-old. It's simply ignorant for a 27 year-old.

Crack Down
[Read the article: The RIAA plays boogeyman]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I agree with the RIAA, here. It's theft, and the RIAA has to act serious if anybody will ever take them seriously. Woe-is-me college students, having trouble paying tuition after facing the consequences of stealing intellectual property. Let's not make them the victims here. It's not 1998 anymore. They should be smarter than that.
As far as new business models go, no business model can compete when there is a FREE alternative for the exact same product (sound quality not withstanding).

Decline
[Read the article: The NAACP's sad decline]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Perhaps it's because the organization became a self-serving, money-making enterprise that refused to have rationale debate without evoking racism at every turn. Racism is alive today, but it cannot be blamed for everything. The NAACP did not accept that.
This is why Barak Obama has a legitimate shot at the White House while Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton never stood a chance.

All-Black Establishments?
[Read the article: The deep delicious South]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The horror! You mean to tell me that you even visited places frequented mostly by black clientle while writing a book about southern food (and I'm sorry, but P Diddy's don't count)?
It's funny that a question like that was even asked by this publication. The south is always getting beaten up by northerners who think the KKK has storefronts on every mainstreet. I've been all over the country, and have known people from various northern cities, and I can honestly say that the the south (Atlanta, anyway, whick admittedly skews my option a little) has the most diverse communities around.
The post-civil rights south has had to own up to, and live with, its mistakes. It's a process that is being lived through, not just written about from afar.

Fuck Ted Nugent.
[Read the article: Wango Tango]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]But please, Salon, don't ever compare Bruce Springsteen to Ted Nugent. Even to make a point. In any way, shape or form.
