Get some exercise

Why doesn't this woman get some exercise and work on her fat gut instead of wearing a scuba suit? Do we really want to hear about all the men she's sleeping with? A little TMI maybe?

perplexed and a taste of things to come

I am a little perplexed by this "rape".

I would be totally opposed to it and would never violate someone this way. But I can't help thinking that the perpetrators are people of color and thus are basically socioeconomic victims of society. Does it make sense to victimize them further by putting them in jail?

Also some of the perpetrators are apparently Hispanic. As part of their "macho" culture, violence against womena and sexual aggression are standard. As Hispanics become more and more of the country, I would expect that eventually laws against rape would be weakened either explicitly or through jury nullification. So this is what we all are in for.

As for the "she should have been careful". By doing what exactly? Even if she hadn't drunk anything, she still very well may have been raped. People say that because they want to believe that "it wouldn't have happened to me, because I'm smarter, less slutty, etc. etc." It's not true, but it makes them feel better.

It's a different America today, and the chivalry and respect of yesteryear are gone (along of course with racist/sexist patriarchal oppression system (for the most part)).

I fear for my daughters. I think we're in for a clockwork Orange type of future.

KenBert is right

I am "KenBert" apparently.

I am right, most of the perpetrators were persons of color.

I didn't know that the victim is white. If she IS, then it is especially abhorent that a person of the dominant, opressive race could force a some of the opressed race into prison.

Do you all not see this?

Is it possible that she was raped by the KKK or some other white supremacist group in order to make the people of color look bad?

I am not in favor of using the legal system to further humiliate and opress the minority citizenry (whether legal or not).

Hi guys

Who has said this chick deserved to get raped or that it's her fault?

In regards to "why is the advice only to women to avoid being raped, why not tell the men NOT to rape." Now, let's think about this...the men who rape know it's "wrong" and "illegal" (especially in the bash-her-head-in type of rape as in this case), but obviously THEY DON'T CARE! So there isn't much point in asking them nicely not to rape. Go ask them not to sell drugs or steal things, see how that works.

The men who WOULD listen to this "don't rape" thing with sensitivity toward their fellow humans, already wouldn't rape.

Interestingly most of these guys are derisively labelled as pathetic nice guys. Most of the rapists were actually probably very popular with the ladies.

As an aside, one of my fraternity brothers was accused of date raping a girl. He told me the story and he did, technically, date-rape her. She told her friends and most of them slept with him too! This case is of course different.

In light of the fact that a coddled minority of men out there will rape with great pleasure and abandon, the advice is to females as to how to avoid these predatory males.

I think that makes sense.

Kind of a sad story

I've often felt cursed by god though. So it knid of makes me feel good to know others are miserable too. I wonder what keeps them from suicide?

I call him KennyB

I would pick the kid up by the ankles and dash his brains against the seatback.

No, I wouldn't really. But sometimes it is excruciating.

I'm sorry, doesn't make sense

What is the point of "closing Guantanamo" just to put them in Max. security prisons?

Now they're on a beach in a warm climate, playing volleyball with their friends. Soon they'll be in solitary confinement 23 hours a day in "SuperMax".

When the world says it wants Gitmo closed it doesn't mean "put them somewhere kind of like Gitmo but with even more social isolation". It means FREE THEM.

Do you really think the Arab world will be happy when its brothers in SuperMax facilities? It's madness.

Willy Horton false comparison

Willy Horton robbed a gas attendent and then after getting the money, stabbed his teenage asailant 19 times and cut off his genitals and put them in his mouth.

This guy was not a murderer when granted clemency.

After Willie Horton was given his weekend furlough and raped and assaulted a couple in MD, Dukakis was asked if he felt he owed them an apology. His answer was "no". That's it. Asked if he would end the program he said simply "No, it's a good program".

Dukakis is a classic liberal, faith in ivory tower programs and who cares about the commoners who have to deal with murderers on a rampage.

He deserved all the blame in the world.

Huckabee's guy was given 95 years for violent crime but not murder as a 17 year old. In many states he would have been paroled by that time anyway.

Not that I'm a Huckabee supporter; I think he's nuts. And I think the whole Christian "compassion" thing is stupid when applied to murderers and stupid in general.

Turn the other cheek? OK, well maybe we should turn the other cheek that he's killed 4 cops. So what? Let's forgive him! Jesus would have done so! Screw Jesus.
