This makes me sick!

Here's what it will take --- seriously ill people who have no coverage or inadequate coverage need to go public, and declare they will not spend money they and their families don't have. Then as the cameras roll and as journalists write, they should go public and invite the media in to record their deaths. One by one. Until this travesty is ended. How many public deaths do you think it would take?

Yeah

She's dumb. Which is why she finished high at Yale.

My problem with her is she is too conservative. No one ever mentions that.

This man was a hero

This man risked villification and gunshots and vandalism for 30 years to save the lives of thousands of women. This man is a hero. A Christian hero.

Safety

When are we going to find a safe way to get people across the ocean? How about using more boats? Some sort of long range train transport? Anything other than flying, which many people abhor.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 06:23 PM

Whoever knew

God's name was Drake. Since, I mean, Drake seems to know the dispensation of Dr. Tiller's soul.

Dr. Tiller saved the lives of thousands of women. What will God say about that?

@mrfour

Yes, well obviously you're wrong. Aren't you glad you weren't on that flight? Can you imagine what it must have been like?

Friday, June 5, 2009 06:11 PM

Isn't it interesting, Elephantman...

that you continue to be allowed to post here. I posted once, very moderately, on Free Republic, and immediately was banned. How is that? I guess liberals are open minded and right wingers are not? I guess liberals believe in freedom and right-wingers dont?

Thursday, June 11, 2009 05:27 PM

Hey, check out Free Republic

There are a ton of loonies in this country who believe this crap. Even though it makes no sense. Even though it is historically inaccurate. Linguistically inaccurate. I'm thinking their tiny brains just can't handle anything with any depth to it. Scary as hell for the rest of us.

Sorry, I'm a feminist. . .

but Sarah Palin has made herself an open target by flaunting her stupidity for all to see and actually having the nerve to present herself as a serous political candidate when she would have trouble passing a freshman English class at most schools. I thought the flight attendant remark was right on -- wish I'd thought of it myself.

Monday, June 15, 2009 07:01 PM

You left out the scariest part --

--Sarah Palin would be vice president.

What about me?

I was born in the U.S. in 1951. I have never had to show a birth certificate for anything. I have no idea where mine is. I guess I'm screwed if I ever want to run for president?

Do these nut cases think Obama is going to dignify their insanity with a response?

Wife?

This man's wife must have had a lobotomy.

Friday, June 26, 2009 06:57 PM

Welcome to rural America

Most places here you also aren't connected. is that news?

Monday, June 29, 2009 07:30 PM

Silly

I'm a nationally published author myself. I have always thought that responding to negative reviews, while one might really, really want to, is a stupid thing to do. Everyone has a different take on books, even good ones. For the author to respond in public is simply to make an ass of oneself. The book will stand as its own advocate.

Govt insurance

I actually have public insurance because I'm employed by my state government. It's by far the best coverage in my state. My dream is to be self-employed. If only I could keep public insurance. People who diss public insurance are just plain ignorant.

Friday, July 3, 2009 05:48 PM

@magillee

And you're batshit crazy too. How far right-wing nutcases have sunk.

Read the headline.

Her base?

I have been looking at several right wing blogs since this happened, and there is only one conclusion I can come to. These people are batshit crazy! What on earth has happened to conservatism in this country?

Saturday, July 4, 2009 06:05 PM

@philhooper

Notice you're allowed to post on this blog (along with other idiots like something stinks). On the the other hand, I was banned from Free Republic for posting a very mildly liberal comment. It's so freaking weird how you right-wing nutcases accuse the left of doing the things that you are actually doing. Oh yes, you're soooo oppressed! Let's have a pity party for you poor widdle fascists.

Saturday, July 4, 2009 06:57 PM

@edugal

Actually, we liberals like Obama because he's real. And intelligent. And we aren't afraid of Sarah Palin. We think she's stupid. (But also entertaining. Just when you think you've seen it all.......) Kind of fascinating, like a train wreck.

Thursday, July 9, 2009 04:51 PM

Education?

The educational crisis among Republican voters is a great cause for concern. When people can't recognize ignorance, you have to assume they are, well, ignorant.

Tuesday, July 14, 2009 06:05 PM

To the rescue

That great old feminist standby for young girls and female Supreme Court justices--Nancy Drew. The computer games are fun and educational. And girls rule.

Wednesday, July 15, 2009 12:44 PM

Of course

Coburn's statement is offensive. And to defend it by saying it's a common phrase in the South...well, that's not much of a defense, is it? (Oh, those common southern phrases about race-which I won't repeat here.)

I'm from West Virginia. Suppose I was up for Supreme Court justice and, in response to something I said, Chuck Shumer exclaimed, "Wheee, doggies!". (hat tip to Jed Clampitt). Would I be offended? Let me put it this way--unlike the cool Sotomayor, I would not get the job because I would have punched someone out.

Wednesday, July 15, 2009 03:09 PM

@EconCCX

My example from the Beverly Hillbillies is just as familiar as the one from I Love Lucy and your also good example of "meathead". My explanation was only for those young ones who don't watch TVLand. As for my "violent" response -- jeez, don't be so literal! I'm a 58 year old granny. (Not that it isn't fun to imagine punching out Coburn!)

in any event, why don't we run this by some Latinos. I know what I would bet.
