That's my diagnosis at least. After skimming his letters for a while now, there are occasional references to his treatment at the VA. But his verbal style is classic schizophrenia. I don't think his posting rights should be banned, but I usually don't get much out of his letters either.
I wish the name were at the top of each letter, but I've gotten pretty good at guessing his letters from the first couple of incoherent sentences so I can move on.

That was my favorite part. The rest sucked as usual.
First of all, this article has a very condescending tone, implying that all of us are morons who haven't even heard of the planet Pluto. (It has been in the press quite a bit in the recent past, by the way.)
Then, when Mr Manjoo actually does have information about planets that might be new to most readers (Ceres and Eris), he mentions it only in passing and just resumes his discussion of how impressed he is with the mnemonic to remember this information.
Also, this is in a tech blog because.....? Is Mr. Manjoo expanding his scope from "What Apple Did This Week" to include introductory psychology about what makes for a good mnemonic?
Many other governments make sure that all of their citizens have health care, assist with child care costs, provide for a respectable amount of vacation time for all employees, require a survivable minimum wage.....
I could go on. I'll take any of the above over the occasional publicity stunt of sending us a meager check whenever the economy tanks and their poll numbers go down.
Last time I got a gov't tax "refund", I ended up giving it right back to them during the next tax year.
Can anyone provide a link or something that shows us the glimmer of hope that this strip might be canceled?
Given Mr. Bolling's regular jabs at religious belief, I think this can be interpreted as such. Many adults never get beyond this sort of superstitious logic, and religious doctrines and their adherents are among the worst offenders.
That's right, science! We don't care what empirical evidence demonstrates! It doesn't jive with our worldview, so..... YOU SUCK!!
Perhaps you should think about moving to Kansas. They like people who don't take guff from science.
I'm so glad that broadsheet finds sexist stereotyping okay, as long as it's against men!
In terms of equal time, I hope the next article headline about women has the subhead "Whether she has big boobs, however, is a different issue entirely."

Seems like GoodCelery!'s annoying posts increased just as bebop-o went on hiatus. Did he get a new salon account, or do we have two schizophrenic wanna-be beat poets on salon forums?
Please salon, give us an ignore feature.
In an ideal world, it is the ideal solution. But in our world.... who gets to make up the qualification test?
The thing that you should truly be worried about is not how she signs her text messages to you. It is that her husband is going to murder you when he finds out who you are and what you've been doing.
Read that again. I said "murder" and did not mean it figuratively.
Oh, but he's a small guy, real meek, perhaps an elementary school teacher. He would never do *that*!
Wouldn't he? Are you willing to bet your life on it?
Mess around with another man's wife and you are literally placing your life in someone else's hands.
Would have been nice for crying out loud!
Isn't your target audience people who haven't seen the movie yet? If you want to discuss the symbolism of specific plot points perhaps you could write another article to be published a week from now. But for a review on the day of release, a little bit of decorum is appropriate.
Why don't you see the NY Times review of this movie to see how the pros do it?
There is a difference between wanting a detailed review of the movie and wanting to have a detailed plot summary of the movie. In fact, I've read many reviews of this movie and only this one revealed anything but the basics in terms of plot.
A good reviewer can talk about the acting, the directing, the cinematography, etc and provide an opinion about which elements worked and whether the end result was enjoyable. And they don't need to reveal spoilers to do it.
Thanks for the Garfield Minus Garfield link. That's one of the funniest things I've seen in a while....
You are correct in principle that individual's should know what to do, but the president has the famous "bully pulpit" to focus everyone's actions and to introduce legal incentives to further motivate.
For example, the president could have been much more specific than "drive less". He could have started a "just say no" style campaign to raise awareness of carpooling, make a connection between patriotism and public transportation, etc.
Furthermore, he could have urged congress to pass stricter environmental law on manufacturers to save oil, provided tax relief or even government sponsorship of alternate energy research, and so forth.
And the time when he could have done this was right after 9/11 when his popularity and public support was at its highest. The public was ready and willing to follow just about any sensible lifestyle change for the cause, and the best he had is "go shopping".
Truly pathetic.
...got the first two letter spots. I'm shocked.... SHOCKED... that they don't support Obama. Welcome to the bottom 25%, fellas.
Much of the initial coverage about Fort Hood turned out to be wrong. Is there anything wrong with that?
