  • brickbat: What?

    [Read the article: Taser nation]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

For the sake of argument, I'll grant that President Bush is guilty of everything you charge, and more. He is to Hitler as Hilter was to Gandhi.

What has this got to do with the tasering incident? Nothing! You hysterics on the Left spend too much time coming up with oh so clever bumpersticker commentary (Hey! Petraeus...Betray us! It rhymes!) and trying to make facile the-part-equals-the-whole-Bush-sucks arguments for absolutely anything that goes wrong anywhere in the world.

How come Kerry's hands are clean in all this? Because he didn't invade Iraq? Grow up.

  • Christ Almighty...

[Read the article: I resent my fiancé because he is rich]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

So being born into money should be a source of shame? What about being tall? Or beautiful? Life's a crapshoot. It's "not fair" that I'm not tall and handsome, but I wasn't dealt those cards. And Cary, people need to be taught about being poor like they need to learn what shit tastes like.

Sounds to me that like the LW thinks a little too much (and too highly) of her own personal journey, and is prepared to resent anyone who didn't have as tough a time. And if someone *did* manage to glide through life, he damn well better be prepared to apologize for it.

Wish I had a rich fiance to resent.

  • No law...

[Read the article: Getting back from Baja]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...is going to completely stop murderers, rapists or bank robbers. We'll never catch them all, so why bother? Yeah, let's do that. Legalize everything. Preventing crime and catching criminals just "annoys" everybody, anyway.

  • I don't think she's a lesbian...

[Read the article: Hillary Clinton: Nope, still not gay]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

but her say-so and the gaydar of the interviewer don't strike me as definitive. Congressman Craig from Idaho claims he's straight. Somebody with a hidden camera should follow Hillary into some public bathrooms just to make extra sure.

  • It's interesting that...

    [Read the article: A non-di-nahy-uhl di-nahy-uhl]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

what appears to me to be dyslexia (based on this and the halting way he reads off teleprompters) becomes funny when a Republican is involved.

Hey! FDR was a cripple! People who can't walk are funny!

    And Republicans are mean? Christ.

  • Hey, Amerigo...

    [Read the article: A non-di-nahy-uhl di-nahy-uhl]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Germans call their country Deutschland. Italians live in Italia. Who gives a shit how Iraqis and Iranians pronounce their respective countries' names?

  • "The president's war"

[Read the article: It's the thought that counts]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Oh, Christ, that's clever! Congress had nothing to do with it! At all! Bush is a moron, but when it came to the war, he was an *evil genius* who tricked us all! But Hillary's not stupid for falling for it...she was tricked! How could she have known?

Democrats gained control of Congress on the promise to end the war, but...it turns out they can't. But it's not their fault! This is Bush's war!

  • Listen to 1hark1

[Read the article: I want a perfect wedding, but my in-laws are trashy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

You can't disallow your brother-in-law and his girlfriend, but a child ban is reasonable. I know, family blah blah blah. Kids have no place at the ceremony (where they'll likely be disruptive) or reception (where they'll likely be bored).

  • As others have pointed out...

[Read the article: Fox News' attack on the honor and integrity of our war generals]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Col. Hunt doesn't name names. And no, that's *not* a distinction without a difference.

  • Calling it "Bush's war"...

[Read the article: How the Democrats blew it]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

doesn't make it so. A whole bunch of Dems voted for the war and continue to vote for it's funding. But if it helps you sleep at night, knock yourself out.

What will your excuse be when President H.R. Clinton gets into office and refuses to pull out the troops?

  • There's no such thing as a sex-change operation.

[Read the article: How did the T get in LGBT?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I totally support the gay/lesbian/bisexual thing. Let 'em marry, adopt, hold high office, whatever. But this "transgendered" stuff is nonsense. A man can be mutilated into looking like a woman and vice versa, but there's still that pesky xx/xy chromosome stuff to deal with. You've either got testes and a prostate, or you've got ovaries and a uterus. You can't change sexes like you can religion. Maybe medical science will one day figure out a way to make a human look like a giraffe. But that person will only *look* like a giraffe.

The "transgendered" are as clinically insane as somebody in the 21st century claiming to be Napoleon Bonaparte. Have things degenerated to the point where *everyone's* version of reality is valid?

  • Maybe not a sociopath...

[Read the article: I'm cheating on my husband and loving it. Is that a problem?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

but a piss-poor excuse for a human being nontheless. True, her current husband was foolish not to know "once a cheater, always a cheater." But his stupidity doesn't excuse her bad behavior. The fact that he's none the wiser doesn't make it okay. How do we feel about raping the comatose?

Just once I'd like to see Tennis call a bad person a bad person.

  • You are an incredible tool, Gary.

[Read the article: Sex, drugs and my 15-year-old]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Kids don't learn what you tell them. They learn what they see. You chose to show him a father who believes America's drug laws are not really laws at all, but more like suggestions. It's up to us to decide which drugs to use. Great! Sure, you told him to lay off the H, but more importantly, you implicitly encouraged him to try any drug he chooses regardless of the say-so of any authority, and that includes you. I wish your son well in rehab.

  • "oppressive ID requirements"?

[Read the article: Let's abolish the Electoral College]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

What, like remembering to bring your driver's license with you to the voting booth? You're right, that's like something out of an Orwell novel. Not the America I grew up in, man.

How about lawsuits to contest elections? How are *they* democratic?

  • Sometimes we get what we deserve...

[Read the article: Why me? What did I do to deserve Bell's palsy?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

and sometimes we don't. Good things happen to bad people, and bad things happen to good people. As an innocent babe, I was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. It's only later that I became a prick who had it coming ;)

I'm sorry for your illness. Good luck to you.

  • I'm an atheist, but...

[Read the article: And then he's going to take a little nap]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I find this little missive and it's responses embarassingly snarky. "Hey! Look at the Declaration of Independence...it mentions a 'Creator'! What a stupid prick Thomas Jefferson was! And what's up with the *Reverend* Martin Luther King, Jr.? What, you think you can talk to an invisible man in the sky, Rev? Good luck! But Islamophobia is bad! Bad!"

    Grow up.

  • In keeping with the sports theme...

[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Screw the American Indians and their hurt feelings. They had homefield advantage and still lost ;)
