If it were legal, why be secret about it?

To me secrecy is the key here, for it was always absurdly easy to get a FISA warrant, but they didn't trust the judges to give them one. Why? Because they knew it wouldn't happen. They were spying on Americans.

Related to the panic theory, keep in mind that the peerless Anonymous Liberal caught something extremely important yesterday: all the time these lying felons were attempting to formulate the Patriot Act they were lying to Congress, asking for things they knew were illegal, not getting them and then doing them precisely anyway. They knew spying on Americans was wrong, all right.

The NYT's held the story until after the election. I could easly horsewhip their publisher and editor through the streets for a few hours after that. The Democrats will not impeach for this incredible string of felonies.

I'm glad I don't have to look a young adult in the face and tell them to uplive our principles, the hypocrisy would be too much. All of our most cherished principles have been thrown out by these filthy lying Republicans.

"...people still want to assume the best and give the benefit of the doubt." Disgusting American journalists do, no one else. They've coddled, enabled and hidden truth from Bush since Day One. Now they can't go back on it.

One sees the same thing with Al Gore, they made up their minds he was an asshole and the worst president ever, an Oscar and Nobel still won't change them. Did y'all see the reviews of Gore's book? Just terrible thoughtless trash, I was embarrassed as an American to read it. We are a nation of deliberate clowns, led and cheered by our godawful journalists, may they rot in hell.

I have a real Blogfather

I highly resent this flaming cretin abrogating a perfectly cool and contemporary net phenomena, the Blogfather.

This occurs when a commenter, through the shining text of their work, just in the comments, merits front page status. A set of keys to the blog is granted, one is a Mustang, a Service term for an officer who started out enlisted.

My Blogfather has served with peerless honor, integrity and hard labor for over five years. Not to mention all the fees and headaches and worries. He is a great man, a fine father and husband, public servant, and friend. I wish I could be the American he is.

Glenn did nothing wrong here, but I just want to get it out there that there are real Blogfathers out there who have spawned many a fine career in writing and public service. This guy is a chump and an asshole, so far removed from the relationship I have with my Blofather it's hard to believe we belong in the same species.

Yeah: why AREN'T they cuffing him???

I warned the sonzabitches if they kept hearings up it would make people so mad they'd turn on the Democrats if they didn't do anything.

It's a paradox, the more they attack him the weaker they are. As long as they do nothing but yap.

It's simply amazing to me how these hosers in DC act as if the forces they're dealing with are manageable, or that what they have done in the past (yap useless platitudes) will actually work anymore.

It will not. Change is coming, one way or another. Leahy must change and get this Gonzo in handcuffs, he's totally out of alternatives. I hope to God he freaking knows it, we are so in for it if he does not.

I'll try to watch on C-SPAN

Sorry I couldn't make it, a variety of factors held me back. Perhaps next year.

Please be well, I'm truly sorry I missed this panel.

I'm going to work on this too

Yesterday I was told I was performing a "disservice" to the troops by calling the "war" an occupation.

Disservice. It still fokkin' creases me sideways--getting troops home alive and well does them a disservice?!

I support the troops by making them serve honorably--not for lies--against real security threats. I guarantee, man, the troops don't have a problem with that right now.

I'm a war veteran too. Tell me how wrong I am, bitch, go ahead, stand there and do it.

[shakes head] It's only August with another year to go. You're telling me Bush is really going to keep this abhorent occupation static? Things will go on just as before? Wow. I'm skeptical, very skeptical.

I'm also going to push back on this, when I'm sure I'm cool.

The Brits got rid of their Senate

Why can't we junk ours? Seriously, this crappy compromise of 230 years ago sucks, bicameral legislatures are a joke, but we keep ours.

Our precious constitution is full of holes and needs a lot of fixing too, hell, we even fail at counting votes!

It may sound a little loony but it's not, the House of Lords is effectively no more. Our Senators are horrible dangerous animals, get rid of them!

Oh shut up

"Oh BTW, when did you switch over to Gay Advocacy? I always thought you were more a 'rule of law' and 'equal protection' kind of Advocate?"

There is no difference here, advocacy for the rule of law and gay rights are the same thing. So is equal protection, even more so.

I don't like your tone, home. Since when do you possess the stupidity and arrogance to comment on what Mr. Greenwald does?

Mind your own fucking business. Trust me, your soul needs the attention.

Bill will be back, too

It isn't just the other players Glenn talked about, the Big Kahuna will be back in the White House too!

This is the guy whose weenie torpedoes Al Gore. Who balanced the budget over the needs of our people, who invited that incredible firestorm of media filth, it's all back! He'll be sleeping with the President of the United States!

I like the man, yes, but I just wish this would all please go away. The Clintons play for themselves, it's obvious, and they don't mind using any DC tactic, scumbag, or amazing piles of corporate cash to get it done. I'm already tired of the Clinton's again!
